Leveled up Homecities for GR

Post by princeofcarthage »

-Level 100 homecities for playing on GR for the ESOC tournaments.
-To install simply download the file and paste in Documents\my games\Age of Empires 3\Savegame.
-If it asks to overwrite any files click yes!
-Some civilization cards are already unlocked, some you will have to.
-You need to make your own decks.

Thanks!

If I am forced to play on GR for a tournament instead of ESO or Voobly then I'd just forfeit. :/

Let Voobly support anti-cheat and then we'll talk

Yeah, the problem with voobly is that it's not currently even possible to play full EP there.

why not just create a bunch of very difficult to type accounts and share them amongst the players ( via PM on skype or ESOC) when the spam inviter is online. I mean he has been attacking us with those accounts for months now and if we have difficulties to identify the signs of his accoutns then hes gonna have the same problem with ours.
If he cant type the account names he cant invite spam. Problem solved.

When you're capturing packets (which he certainly knows how to do), you don't have to type anything. You copy-paste them from the packet captures.

That's ridiculous. I've made it vocal literally years ago that we should have been starting to cooperate more closely with Voobly. No one wanted to step in that direction under the (accurate up until now) pretense that ESO was going to be fine. Not migrate to Voobly entirely, just try to set things up so that it's as good an alternative platform as can be. We had time back then to start this project and I know I wasn't the only one with that position.

So saying "well voobly doesn't support us" is really just irritating for me to hear. We had plenty of time to start cooperating with Voobly before but we didn't take the opportunity to do so. Of course Voobly doesn't support anti-cheat or EP or whatever else needs to be done. That project was never started in the first place and was never given a chance! Now that time is of essence the reason goes from "eso is fine" to "well voobly doesn't support us". That second reason is there precisely because Voobly was never given any attention in the first place! If there were ever a time for me to say "I told you so" it would now.

@musketeer925

The reason I don't like GR as a client is that it's just not as good as Voobly as far as I'm concerned. I installed and tried out the client back then and frankly was utterly disappointed, with lack of many features (such as ladders, which Voobly has) or ads (which Voobly has, but unintrusively so). I uninstalled GR back then and haven't looked back since. I frankly don't know if I want to give it a try again today. I don't understand why we're snubbing the service that hosts the second most populated RTS game on the planet.

I'm all for switching to Voobly and working with them, but in the current tournament GR is just a way better options because of the integration with EP. Switching to Voobly takes some time so for the time being, we will have to play on GR. You think it's better to just starting playing the tournament on Voobly from the get-go?

I've never tried Voobly. I'd be more than happy if someone was working to get EP built into additional platforms.

GameRanger definitely isn't the nicest experience in the world, but if its where the players are, I think boycotting it is a little bit extreme.

@kami_ryu Well, the sole AoE3 moderator on voobly is an ESOC staff member, and has been for quite a while. I would say @_NiceKING_ has put a considerable amount of work into voobly but it all takes a long time since they're all focused on supporting AoE2.

You misunderstand my frustration.

Of course it takes time. Given that it takes time, we should have been working with Voobly earlier. When I brought up the idea it was dismissed off hand. Now that we find that ESO has run into issues (who would have thought? it's been unsupported and unmoderated for years.. it's a freaking miracle ESO is still online at all), we're caught with our pants down and using what I consider to be an inferior service to ESO/Voobly.

It's precisely because it takes time and resources to get what we want out of Voobly that I'm being a bitch about it now. I would probably play on GR if I really had to. However I'd rather not. Though frankly if you were all to dismiss my ranting that would be legitimate because I'm hardly playing the game as it is. but if I have to get shaderanger to play then it'll just lower my incentive to play.

Bitching about what was or was not done in the past doesn't help with anything. Feel free to bring it up sometime as an argument to do something we're putting off, but complaining about it just for the sake complaining, I don't see the point.

It certainly doesn't. However I made a point back then and I'd like to underline the validity of what I was saying in the past, so that resources may be allocated to address things in the future. Whether or not you guys end up collaborating with Voobly at this point is moot. As long as I've said my bit, made sure it was understood and made sure it was heard, then anything can happen and I'll have no regrets. I've said my bit, you guys are free to take it into consideration or ignore it.

My tone is super dry I guess, but I do appreciate you guys and I understand that these things don't happen overnight. You guys have already done so freaking much for the game it's not even funny. My only point is to make sure that all possibilities are being evaluated seriously. I'm also too tired and cranky to sugarcoat my words so I'm just speaking frankly. I have nothing personal against anyone. you're all fabulous. really.
