GitHub Repository

Short Description:
It is a utility for TRACKING network PACKETS (TCP and UDP), IP CHECKING and PARSING RECORDS in Age of Empires III. The scope is quite wide: you can troll your mates, catch annoying smurfs or cheaters and analyse games. Convinient filters show only the information you want to see. App supports both Russian and English localization.

What law?

In France the IP is a private data, and one isn't allowed to store or share it.

cba to search the law but the IP adress is a private data, and you aren't allowed to store it.
From what I read, sometimes you can't even sue someone who did something illegal on the internet because you aren't allowed to use his IP.

I guess he's talking about the GDPR

Relevant part:
Controllers of personal data must put in place appropriate technical and organisational measures to implement the data protection principles. Business processes that handle personal data must be designed and built with consideration of the principles and provide safeguards to protect data (for example, using pseudonymization or full anonymization where appropriate), and use the highest-possible privacy settings by default, so that the data is not available publicly without explicit, informed consent, and cannot be used to identify a subject without additional information stored separately. No personal data may be processed unless it is done under a lawful basis specified by the regulation, or unless the data controller or processor has received an unambiguous and individualized affirmation of consent from the data subject. The data subject has the right to revoke this consent at any time.

I don't think this means you can't store IPs, but the data must be secure (not sure if that's the case or not)

GDPR only applies to organizations. You're free to save any personal data as an individual, just like you have your friends' phone numbers saved somewhere.

Hum, if it only applies to organizations, then it's fine.
What if someone stores an absurd amount of IP adress or phone numbers and shares it to an organization though? Would it be legal?

Probably not for the individual. The company would have to account for the large number of ip addresses without source though. They'd have to figure out who these ip addresses belong to and ask for consent before they can legally store them.

I say probably because I'm not 100% familiar with GDPR. Also, keep in mind that GDPR is a European directive, which means that its content is not literally represented in EU member states. EU member states are free to fill in the blanks when implementing the directive while still following the basic premise. In my country, the national law AVG is stricter than GDPR.

Another major update was released, check it here https://github.com/XaKOps/ESO-Packet-Tracker.

Whats new:
  • GUI reworked to AoE III Vanilla style.
  • Added ability to disable sounds and speech messages.
  • Improved speech behavior. Now each message is pronounced separately in the order of the queue.
  • Now only last 1024 entries from the log file will be displayed for performance reasons.
  • Added manual IP geo check (country, city, flag).

New huge update after a lot of hard work brings new features and changes! Download and details here: https://github.com/XaKOps/ESO-Tracker

Whats new:
  • Optimized interface (less space more features).
  • Add flags for each row in IP Checker table.
  • Ping bug fixed (too frequent launches wasting a lot of resources).
  • Added Recorded Game parser. Thanks @Buckethead for sharing code and explanations.

Records Parser:
  • Shows general info about recorded game (title, map name, map icon, game mode, game version, game duration, players names, civs, PR and APM).
  • Shows selected decks.
  • Shows list of all important game actions(train units, build, shipment, spawn unit, research tech, selected deck, resigned, cheat tech) with timestamp.
P.S. I remember that 3 years ago in eso-assistant thread someone asked for APM counter. So it's here now!
