It is definitely because the patch has changed. This was played on the previous version of EP, you should be able to switch your version in the patch launcher, I believe, and watch older recs that way.

Open EP Lancher -> Tools -> Recorded Games Recognition -> Open... -> select your rec file -> Launch
This will temporarily switch your EP version to the one on which this recorded game was played.
To get back on the current version, simply open the EP Launcher again and launch the patch normally using the "Launch ESOC Patch" button.
