Seriously though, ESOC is not going to be a place where we censor every negative thread. We aren't Russia. People can express themselves freely and if they get mad, so be it. As long as the flames don't get out of hand (*cough* bpds *cough*) it's okay.

The thing is, a high level player smurfed in this tournament which was explicitly not allowed. That was going to be a big deal whether we like it or not, and people were always going to have conflicting opinions on the matter. ESOC needs to be a place where people can express these opinions without getting censored. We started this website because this community needs a place to come together and discuss what's going on and that remains our core philosophy. We got a record-breaking amount of posts yesterday for a reason: People want to talk about this and we are not going to stand in their way.

I agree though, people could've been more polite in this thread and I expect them to have learned from it and act like adults next time a disagreement arises. :hug:

i think the best way to avoid rampant flaming is to simply not fuel the fire

you can be rude if you feel strongly about something for example.

it's up to everyone to moderate themselves really. i'd rather rely on common sense from other people than having to use my own common sense to moderate the forums

i firmly believe that everyone is doted with common sense. surely everyone agrees that a poster would be better off posting intelligently on his own rather than some moderator doing the thinking for him?

where can one download this common sense? i searched for it on google and all it came up with is thomas paine book common sense. is that the one u were referring to? i looked on download.com and it came up with the same propaganda book. can u post the url so we all can install it?

that video was absolutely terrible. it looks like it took u 10 seconds to make it. was that seriously the best u can do? i can just pick a random pewdiepie video and it would be better than urs. the average pewdiepie subscriber/viewer can probably make a better video than u can in less time. i suggest u rethink ur script writing career, and ur creativity in general, and perhaps go to the thread where ppl search for girls on google images since that requires less creativity.

@jerom, let me rephrase I expect people to act more mature next time ') Baby steps.

But the important thing that we should all be aware of is that this forum is the community so it will reflect the thoughts of the community as a whole and not the thoughts of a couple of guys who decide what's good for us to discuss and what isn't. Everyone who participates in a community is free to express their opinion no matter how unreasonable it may be. It's very interesting to me that when people talk about freedom of speech in real life it's holy to them, but on an internet forum it randomly isn't any more. People feeling comfortable posting what they think instead of what we want them to think remains a priority to me.

In any case, we will all laugh about this in a week or two and this thread will be a nice piece of ESOC history

to be fair the same rules apply off the internet, where you have freedom of speech but with caveats , ie, no hate speech / incitement, racism.
