This Year's Autumn Tournament Will Use EP ELO
Re: This Year's Autumn Tournament Will Use EP ELO
That depends entirely on his performance in those 30 games, does it not?

No, you should need more than 30 games to reach top 10, regardless of the results. For example on the RE ladder you'd need at least 50 games to get to top10.

I think that should depend on the total/average number of games played per person. If you played 50 games while most people haven't even reached that number, it's not unlikely to think you should be in top 10.
Re: This Year's Autumn Tournament Will Use EP ELO
Number of games has nothing to do with reaching top10 or w/e spot. It totally depends on how many total games are played. There isnt such an arbitrary number that legitimates being in the top10.

Yes activity and community size matter a lot. I don’t see why you need more than thirty games to prove you are better than 1000-2000 people.

But that isnt the point is it? The point is that an ELO system were all users have very few games is inaccurate. Especially if the player amount is small.
For example, FIFA uses an elo system to determine the ranking of football countries and that functions extremely poorly.

It's really just common knowledge that the larger the sample size the better.....
Re: This Year's Autumn Tournament Will Use EP ELO
Both yesterday and today EP games have been counted towards RE ELO, so it's literally impossible to game the system right now
Re: This Year's Autumn Tournament Will Use EP ELO

Thanks for the report, we'll look into that! The whole ladder backend codebase has been moved off to a different server/service yesterday, so there may be some hiccups.
