ESO-C Wiki Announcement & Community Team Changes

Hello everyone.

The Community Team is proud to announce one of the most ambitious projects in ESOC history: the ESO-Community Wiki. Inspired by the results of the Community Team poll, the ESO-C Wiki will be the first exclusive AoE3 wiki and will be a chance for people to teach each other more about this game we all love. Like other wikis, the ESO-C Wiki will be primarily powered by contributions from users, but unlike the existing AoE wiki, it will be subject to a stringent review process. All information on the ESO-C Wiki will be current and accurate to ensure that new users have a strong foundation on which to build. In addition to game-related content, it will have features such as a comprehensive ESO-C Patch change log, a tournament hall of fame, and more.

We believe that this project could not be more timely. The release of AoE3DE means that potentially thousands of new users will be making their way online. We want ESO-C to be a place they can turn to in times of need, and we can think of no better way to achieve that than by creating an accessible, user-friendly base of information for them to draw on.

The Community Team is evolving to meet the challenges of the ESO-C Wiki project by restructuring and bringing several new members on board. From this point forward, the Community Team will be divided into two sub-teams: one focused on moderation/forum maintenance duties and one on the wiki, with some overlap.

Forum Team: @edeholland @hleung @Papist @XeeleeFlower @Cometk @kami_ryu @Vinyanyérë

ESO-C Wiki (EW) Team: @edeholland @musketeer925 @BrookG @Hidddy_ @DivineFire @Papist @hleung

We would like to give a warm welcome to @BrookG and @Hidddy_, the newest members of the Comm Team, and to @DivineFire, one of the earliest ESO-C staff members who is back with us after a long hiatus. We are happy to have them on board.

Any moderation queries should be directed to the members of the Forum Team, as the EW members do not have mod powers. Please reach out to @edeholland, the leader of the Community Team, with any questions you have about the ESO-C Wiki or the restructuring.

Sincerely,
The ESO-Community Team

Those without mod power should have a different color to make that clear, shouldn't have people come to this thread just to find out who they can talk to about moderation.

Also, come on man

Edit: ESOC wiki should also allow at least one page detailing the Basement to mark our huge influence over the community

I have to say I agree with @fightinfrenchman here about mod powers being a certain color.

Okay I'll be sure to use the report function whenever I have a question about moderation

Not sure if you are trolling, but of course the SCC is the place for that :hmm:

Optimally, people aren't messaging a random Comm Team member about a mod action anyway, they are posting in the SCC or messaging the specific mod who took an action they have questions about.

This decision to do it this way was made in part because we want a certain amount of fluidity to exist between the groups doing forum stuff and the group doing wiki stuff. Considering this and the overlap that exists between the groups, it seemed unnecessary to create an entirely new team.

Well life isn't always optimal, and messaging random Comm team members about moderation policies is something I do often

Nice to see there's not a single player above captain in the Wiki Team, you should rename it the comp stomp team Kappa

The Wiki Team is not here to create new guides for each civ. The functionality of the team includes providing easier access for (newer) players to decent civ and general guides with the help of a better structure. The current responsibilities of Wiki Team is as follows:
Maintenance/Restructure of:
-Strategy wall
-Hall of fame
-Resources, links and introductions for new players to AoE3
-Resources, links and introductions for new members to ESOC
-How to use ESOC forum features
-Tech support page about common problems and links
-General EP page
-EP changelog page
-Rules page

As for civ guides, I am quite certain the wiki will detail at least one civ guide from you. I hope it's a bit clearer to you now on the responsibilities of Wiki Team, and rest assured that we will not randomly add in any game-related specific content on our own. :flowers:

I think Rouga doesn't understand how wiki's work!

Or do you think this page

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_mechanics

was written by a pr50 Einstein...?

It was surely written by someone who knows his topic.
Anyway, I thought it would look like that https://liquipedia.net/starcraft2/Raven ... f_the_Void) in which case you do need to know a bit about the game and the competitive gameplay to write a wikia.

If it's just that http://ageofempires.wikia.com/wiki/Musketeer then I'm not sure people need to spend time on this, since there's already a wikia.
