This Sunday, June 23rd beginning at 15:00 GMT...

The ESOC Grand Tour #2 returns, resuming
this weekend with the
$206 Two Towns Tournament!

>> Click here to sign up! <<

Last Sunday (9th) saw the Underused Cup - a one day tourney which banned the top 5 most played civilizations. This brought us a number of matchups we don't see all too often (as well as some that we do ). Eitherway, it was a lot of fun and gave the overall edge to players skilled with some of the less usued civs in the game (unless you're Kaiser playing Otto :uglylol:). There was so many games being played, we split them over both the ESOC & Escape Twitch streams with some great series on both as well as a nail-biting grand final between Mitoe & Kaiserklein!

The Grand Tour Season 2 returns This Sunday (23rd) with a collaboration 'Smackdown' tournament brought to you by ESOC & Escape - with a jointly funded starting prize pool of $206! The Two Town Tournament will see players begin the game with their regular starting TCs as well as a covered wagon each which can immediately be placed anywhere on the map…

Basically - in every game, players will begin with two town centres in the Discovery Age - one which they can choose the position of! This should be interesting as there’s a few cards which get a whole lot stronger when you have two TCs (colonial militia anyone?). Although I’m not favouring the Portuguese here as their civ bonus gets comparatively weaker . This one day tourney will obviously be played on Smackdown patch to enable the changes - which, don't forget, also includes a small number politican changes.

I'm particularly looking forward to this one day event - normally with Smackdown, one series isn't enough to figure out the meta and satisfy my interest in how the changes effect the game. But with a whole day to figure it out... and a whole tournaments worth of players bringing ideas to the table... I'm excited to see what people come up with and what civs will emerge as the best.

The Two Town Tournament will be the second event of the ESOC Grand Tour Season 2. The Grand Tour is a series of live, one-day tournaments that are hosted on weekends throughout the year. Tournaments usually consist of new and different formats, and winning in these tournaments will contribute to one's Grand Tour Record, a tally of points kept to measure players' strength over the course of the season. Click here to read more information about the Grand Tour Season 2.

Season 2 of the Grand Tour will feature five weekend events, and at the conclusion of the 5th event, the top 8 scorers in points will be invited to participate in the Grand Tour Playoffs. The winner is crowned the Grand Tour Champion!

Watch LIVE on the Escape & ESOC Twitch channels who will be providing as much coverage as possible between them!

please call this T3 (think E3).

Also thinking otto should be quite good. double vills guarantee with no military penalty. just force your opponent to spend all their food on military then gg?

Otto will be shit lol, the extra 5 vils after 20 minutes give you nothing

Russia or brit should benefit most, maybe other nilla civs too

No, you're quite wrong.

Every other civ has to spend another 100f (or whatever res/amount it is) to utilize their TC. This slows them down a lot. Otto gets the benefit and it speeds them *up.*

I played a game for instance as brit on the TC patch and produced 2 vills through age 1 and clicked up at 5 mins or something, with no hunt in base.

2 TC is more defense so rushes aren't as good, yes. But otto will gladly click up to III and send 2 falc and shove 100 carded jans into your base while you're struggling to support a 2 TC vill queue at 6 mins with no hunt left.

Yes. It's already live - go to EP launcher, tools, configure for Smackdown Patch, and launch EP.

How do I go back to regular EP afterwards? Just close the game and relaunch EP?

right i underestimated how much 100f every half minute is, that's quite crazy actually. still i think you can do nice age 2 eco plays and otto doesnt really get out more than otherwise, maybe 10 jan at 10 mins or so

Very hard to predict the implications of this. I'd imagine that civs that easily get a lot of vills early on will be at an advantage because they can make full use of the defensive capabilities of the second tc
