Not really sure you can compare people who moesbar hack on RE in standard non tourny ladder games vs predetermined and deliberate cheating/smurfing in a tournament which nearly changed who would have had free plane tickets and entry to the biggest lan tourny ever conducted. If you still think this was just 'one offense' and should be unbanned then jog on mate.

It wasn't deliberate and predetermined, it was heat of the moment kind of thing.

the tournament starts at 15:00 GMT on July 4th (or if ur first match is RO64, be there at 15:45). from there, you play the tournament start to finish throughout the day.

Hey all,

So two bits of information for all of you. Firstly, Somppu will be allowed to play in Empire Cup 2. He reached out to me, we had a talk, I went over with ESOC staff a bit. With the logic that EC2 is run in partnership with ESOC as opposed to being an ESOC event, I've allowed Somppu to play. Empire Cup is basically an incog event more than anything else, so the decision to let Somppu play was mine. I prefer to not get into the specifics as to how that decision was reached (people may PM if they want to discuss it further) but it was my decision, not quite ESOCs. So if things go bad, it'll be on me. I just want EC2 to be a nice fun event and in my mind, Somppu playing contributes more than it potentially takes away. If things go south, it'll be entirely on me.

As far as I know, admin decisions regarding Somppu/ESOC are still in place. Those entities will have to figure things out later, after EC2. Empire Cup is just a different brand than ESOC events, which is why things are the way they are. It's a gray area. I was very careful in this decision because it needs to be said: Empire Cup would not have been successful had ESOC tourney admins not helped.

Now, this leads us to an obvious question: titnesie. Given the aforementioned logic, I should have also allowed tit and kynesie to participate. Without getting into specifics again, the decision not to allow them to play was also mine. Like with Somppu, I consulted ESOC staff beforehand to get an opinion. In this case, a pretty easy consensus was reached that the offenses of titnesie in NWC qualifiers were still too big and too recent. In the end, I decided that it was in the best interest to stand with the ESOC ban.

Please PM me any questions and I will clear up things that need to be cleared up. I'd rather not have the thread be about these decisions but of course, it's fine if that happens.
