Special thanks to TakkCafe for sponsoring this tourney, as well as @Warno and @gibson for their huge $100 donations! Thanks to everyone else who donated as well, prize pool is at almost $800 already, it's huge

Sign me up,
incog on steam, if tourney goes up to 64 or more players
which, considering your prizepool, maybe

Gona be a great tournament cheers for organizing
Re: Legacy Tournament - sign ups and info
Yeah if people aren't signing up because they think they won't make the 32 cut (which I know I wouldn't) then I say, sign up anyway. Show some interest, make the tourney bigger than what Kaiser imagined. This is exactly how it happened with the incog cups, I really just wanted a small tournament made up from my tips from work. money/interest just kept raining down

Re: Legacy Tournament - sign ups and info
It doesn't have to be RO32 btw. It could be RO64 if enough people sign up. Might be a little bit tight in terms of timing, but could be worth a shot.
I'm just saying, people really don't have to refrain from signing up because they think they won't make it in the tourney.

Re: Legacy Tournament - sign ups and info
Being quite inactive since the DE release, I stopped totally to play 6 or 7 months ago. From there even watching a single tournament game felt very very boring to me. Passion was not here anymore but seeing this tournament announce I must admit I'm now quite excited to see finally a truly "competitive" format with that much of good players.
Definitely looking forwards to watch this one !

Re: Legacy Tournament - sign ups and info
I don't really agree so much that this format makes it more "competitive" (although... civ draft rules were not great last tourney), but the live casting should make it much more fun to watch since the playback speed will be normal and there will be no trolls in the chat who already know the results.

Eh I can see easily though why there is belief that Sweden, Inca, US, Hausa and Ethiopia don't exactly 'add' to a competitive experience though. I like new things and diversity but only if it's healthy.Mitoe wrote:I don't really agree so much that this format makes it more "competitive" (although... civ draft rules were not great last tourney), but the live casting should make it much more fun to watch since the playback speed will be normal and there will be no trolls in the chat who already know the results.
What was different about the draft rules for the last tourney? My understanding led me to believe that the map selection and Sweden's existence seemed to create most of the issues yeah?
Also I would sign up just so I get to play actual competitive games in competitive settings and not the nonsense quick search is but I think I may have played like less then 10 ranked games?
Re: Legacy Tournament - sign ups and info
The draft was just very limiting. No chance to pull out surprises or give up on a civ that just isn't working.
It definitely didn't help that the balance was bad, because usually one player just got one more of the OP civs than the other player. I just think the tournament would have been better without a draft. I personally didn't feel that it added any value to the viewer experience either.

The fact that you only had 5 civs to choose from out of 17 in a bo7 was very limiting and predictable and didnt provide much diversity

Re: Legacy Tournament - sign ups and info
I think 32 players makes for the best experience. Not too much filler and players don't have to plan around the tourny for 2 whole months
Re: Legacy Tournament - sign ups and info
Sign me up if it ends up being a bigger pool of players!
When in doubt, teepee out!

Damn the prizepool for this tourney is skyrocketing, really nice to see so much engagement for this event. Someone wants to practice some games next weekend? @Jerimuno @Guigs @princeofkabul

Re: Legacy Tournament - sign ups and info
I think the last tourney major issue was the balance of the game not the draft itself (maybe 1 too few civs), but we can discuss that in a different topic and try keep this on topic for kaisers event.
Sure :)miggo1999_ wrote:Damn the prizepool for this tourney is skyrocketing, really nice to see so much engagement for this event. Someone wants to practice some games next weekend? @Jerimuno @Guigs @princeofkabul
