$6000 AOE3 1v1 Supremacy Tournament

ESOC, in partnership with the Royal Clan and UEC, is excited to announce the largest and most prestigious event in the history of the website, and the largest prize pool for an AoE3 event since 2008. Kings of the Old World, sponsored by Microsoft, is a 1v1 Supremacy tournament coming in July. The event, focused on showcasing the Knights of the Mediterranean DLC, will feature an open qualification system where eight players will emerge to challenge for the title. More details will be released soon, but in the meantime if anyone is interested in helping support the event with admin or other duties, please send me a message or drop a note here. All donations that ESOC receives during the event will go towards the prize pool, and will show our generous sponsors at Microsoft that the AOE3 community belongs on the big stage and we can continue to support large events.

Oh I so hope we get back some of the old pros for that.

good to see everyone pulling together for this one! the more helpers there are then it is easier for everyone else, and better the event will be run. :)

Are games live or replays? If replays, are they going to run at regular speed or x0.7 speed like usual?

The latter wouldnt make me tune in for a $100,000 tournament.

I'll tune into live casts for a $10 prize.

I would say I believe it would be unlikely any of the qualifiers would exceed 128 registrations, but if that did happen in qualifier 1 then we would look at changing the number going forward.

Wow, thought I'd never see the day of a MS-sponsored tournament. This is great news, I hope we can make this tournament a big one and show MS it's worth the investment.
By the way, if you haven't bought the Knights of the Mediterranean DLC yet, make sure to buy it now while it's on sale! It will be required for participation in the tournament.

And that's how we lost Kaiser... Although with a 6 000 prize fund that would be a pretty good investment for him.

Do you need a DLC to play in a tournament?

It's OK if someone doesn't want to sign up due to the rules then they can still watch the streams or help out and be part of the show. Aiz vs Lion finals! You heard it here first!

For ppl that dont sign up cause they don't want to play Malta or Italy is just lame.

These 2 DLC civs probably have the least learning curve compared to the previous civs.

Also good opportunity to get MS to sponsor more future tourneys.

Sometimes the cycle of "hating the game" needs to be out on pause
