Civ bans end up being the players main rather than the strongest civ, it's easy to find out their most played civs in DE even without having played against them

Maybe civ ban if its all civs, but as its legacy civs then civ pool is naturally restricted. Rohbrot can finally play spain again.

Removing a player's specialty is never fun to watch. Kaiser never gets to play Germany, Rohbrot never gets to play Spain, Ezad India, etc.

Civ bans are not as bad in other Age games because civilizations are more similar to one another in those games and players are less likely to specialize in 1-2 specific civs. It just doesn't make sense to copy that rule in AoE3 though, IMO.

Looks like (almost) everybody want that rule gone so we'll remove it.
@Jaegerchere will update the tournament rules document in a bit.

Changes :
- Civilization ban per player removed
- Updated civilization tool pick

Note : This rule was not meant (ideally) for a player to get rid of his opponent main civilization necessarily, but rather to get rid of strong civilizations on a specific map with few to no counters, or to get rid of a civilization that shines on a specific map set.

I'm opened to suggestions for next tournament map pool.
The way I build them is usually like this : Standard map tp map --> Heavy tps map --> No tp map --> Water map --> Repeat. Sometimes throwing a hybrid map in the mix like New England

more no tp maps and less cattle ( cattle is really broken for some civ really... fre for exemple got buff cdb train time faster tp, spain aging with 1 less vill with a tp start lol, germany 16 vills age up lol, otto lol ) and we can think civ like india china and such could be good, on paper yes but in reality they're trash

Exemple just look at the round 64 map pool, in which world otto spain france germany isn't picked on all of these map except painted desert ofc

idk i just think tp is too good atm so maybe im biased, but really looking at it ill just watch those 4 civs fight each other every game, sometimes other civ ofc but will be rare, i guess lakota iro can be a good pick sometimes

I encourage considering the introduction of additional formats, such as team matches or time-limited formats.This could increase the tournament's dynamism and/ attract new viewers.It would also be beneficial to organize Q&A sessions with players before the tournament

I see we missing a lot of active(ish) good players in this tourney. As someone who is playing and enjoying 1v1 games lately, i would be really happy to see them participate. Most of them probably think that they are just rusty and dont have enough time to get back in shape but i am pretty sure watching them even at their worst would be amazing for we DE players and we have a lot to learn from u guys. I made a list to ask some of those players to please participate if u have time to play even though u think u will not play your best. I mean there are 64 spots available. It would be sad if we didn't even get 32 players. Idk i think there needs to be more encouragement for mid elo to high elo players say 1700-2000 elo to join as well as the pro players.

Some people might still be on vacation I fear. Quite common here in Europe to go in the beginning of Septembre. Maybe delaying the start of the tourney to mid/end of septembre could help? Dunno.

I've been thinking about signing up but the timing is quite bad for me. Most likely I would lose in the first 1-2 rounds from lack of time to practice, and if I made it further then scheduling might become an issue.
