You have to keep the design which ES did when they first made the civs in mind. Spain is designed to have no ranged infantry shipments. If you would give them 8 skirm they would just become another France and lose their originality.

no one thinks that spain is a good civ, its just that it would be very easy to overboost if you are trying to balance it while keeping its originality

Okay. That's what I would love to see in Spain-

1)10 xbow or 8 skirm age up/6 huss age up
2)Free veteran upgrade for Rodeleros.
3)Give lancer 4x vs infantry as their original multiplier, and remove the card which does the same.
4)10 Rods and 9 Rods instead of 8 rods and 7 rods. Also give them 7 rods instead of 6 in age 2.
5)11 highlanders instead of 9.
6)+1 wood crate.
7)Free gangsaw and great coats.

Isn't spain very good in nilla? Why not mix the TAD and the Nilla version to make it a mediocre civ while still maintaining it's originality?

You guys do know that Spain is not all that different from what it was on 'Nilla, except for a few shipment nerfs... if you let it have those back, plus other stuff, it will be OP. IMO Spain is kinda in the same place India was in like 2010, nobody knows how to play them. Probably could use 1k coin but other than that...

Shipment nerfs + lower xp rate which was a huge thing, but if you read my post and diarougas answer carefully you can see that spain won''t get op.

On nilla rod have more attack, skims can kill cav, your shipments are better, your dogs are better and you get your shipments faster.
It doesn't seem much but all that combined will slow your timing or fk your timing.

Spain eco is pretty good if you convert those extra shipments into eco advantages and don''t waste them on units. Eg you can ship 5v just about every game quite easily.
