ESOC Patch Update 1.2.0.1

We updated the Launcher to fix some small issues:

1. Fixed an issue that caused the launcher to crash upon starting
2. Fixed an issue where the launcher would crash after clicking on 'options'
3. Fixed an issue where playing on K&B maps would reset all your settings

If your settings were wiped out by playing on a K&B map, you can try recovering them by following these steps:
Go to "Documents\My Games\Age Of Empires 3\Users3\"
Right click on "NewProfile3.xml" and open properties, then click on "Previous Versions". If there is any previous version of the file, select that and click on restore, then click on restore again.

Download the EXE for manual install by clicking on the "Download" button in the sidebar or just use your launcher to update. If you experience any technical issues, post them here.

no they are not available on official version, only there on fan patch.

The patch is compatible with Steam, and you can download the maps separately for unrated play if you wish.

That's cause any updates to the DataPF.bar file will cause a mismatch... Any time there is a map or balance update it will cause this. That's always been a problem with AOE3. We are working on a way to switch to any previous patch so recs can be viewed.

Anyone who says otherwise is wrong, yes it is available on the steam version of aoe3. You cannot get the patch through steam, but it does work with the steam version. I can speak to this myself, as I have the steam version and work with custom maps all the time.

Ranked play on the maps is unavailable off of the patch. If you want the new maps on your TAD game just go to the RMF folder and copy the maps you want into RM3. This will be in your "my documents" folder, not the install directory.

I think this is more a misunderstanding of what the patch is and what the game is.

AOE3 has 2 Expansion packs created by the manufacturer. These are all lumped together in steam. They also patch the game to the latest version.

ESOC Patch is a patch version. It provides maps, anti-cheating, and some small balance changes. The patch works for Steam or the CD version as they are the same thing.

AOE3 supports custom maps (check box in game lobbies). You can move copies of the maps into your custom folder and use the new maps we release on any version of the game. They will be unrated games but still possible to play on them.
