How do I change my recorded games folder?

Post by yoqpasa »

This is my current folder, the default one: C:\Users\yoqpasaPC\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Savegame.
The problem is I want to save many of them and I'm using my SSD space.

No, attempting to change the drive where AoE3 stores local data is generally a great way to break your game. If you've really got so many files, I would advise to keep them somewhere else and only move into the folder whatever you want to watch, when you want to watch it.

What do you mean with "save many of them"? You can just create subfolders inside the savegame one.
If the problem is the SSD memory then ye just store them somewhere else and copy when needed.

So apparently symlink and etc are not working correctly with the game. There's another solution, one that should work as I'm using it on my computer. You need to completely move the Documents folder to the HDD instead of the SSD. That being said, you should anyway done this as you should save SSD's space for softwares rather than data.
How to do so ?
Just right click on the Documents folder, select properties, then go on the "Location" properties and change it.

Can't you just launch recorded games from anywhere on your computer (even another drive) using the ESOC Patch launcher and Recorded Games Recognition?

Nope, you can't even do that actually. Your recs need to be in the designated folder for EP Launcher to be able to make the game open them.

Kao's solution is the only one that can work I think; that is changing the documents folder location to another (non-network, physical active drive) through native Windows means.
