FTJ due to new internet provider
Hi,
I have a new internet provider + new router. Since then I cannot join any game, not even on the EP. Can someone please help me? Thank you in advance.

Portforward the correct ports and you are good to go. The Help article in the Steam forums tell you what specific ports should be forwarded.
Whatever you do, please don't be stupid and use DMZ (demilitarized zone).

Correlation doesn't mean causation.

If that doesn't work, use a VPN
Re: FTJ due to new internet provider
No.. just no... You don't want to have your internet completely unsecure just because you are too lazy to properly forward ports.iNcog wrote:DMZ?

2300-2310 TCP
2300-2310 UDP
80 TCP & UDP

Weird, the second ) isn't part of the link. Have to manually put it in I guess if you wanna see the link.
Re: FTJ due to new internet provider
Make sure your ISP doesn't provide a private wan-ip. If thts the case, then it cannot be portforwarded because your WAN-IP(Modem IP) and External IP address should be the same.
WAN-IP can be checked in the modem's gateway settings. Check your External IP address with 'https://whatismyipaddress.com/' .

Re: FTJ due to new internet provider
So I found this video on port forwarding. So I use the IP addresses you gave me and connect them with my own. That should be enough?

Re: FTJ due to new internet provider
It seemed to work partially, I could join some but not all hosts.

Re: FTJ due to new internet provider
Is there anything else I can do to improve net connectivity?
Re: FTJ due to new internet provider
If the WAN-IP of your modem and your IP address are the same, then check for PortForwarding menu or Virtual server menu, there type the IP address of your computer and type in the range of ports required for the ESO i think its from 2300 to 2310. With both tcp and udp. Port 80 i guess would be blocked by the ISP itself, but forwarding only those 2300 to 2310 is enough for aoe3.
Sometimes the IP of your computer may change because its assigned by the router, then its required to setup the static ip from the network settings in the control panel.
Also its better to disable the firewall, some routers has firewall option enabled. Have to disable that too.

There is no case of working partially, if you have portforwarded successfully then u should be able to join all rooms.supernapoleon wrote:It seemed to work partially, I could join some but not all hosts.

Re: FTJ due to new internet provider
You have to port foward the correct ports to a certain Local IP, i.e. your computer's Local IP which should stay the same.
Ideally, you use a static IP for any client your router needs to feed. Even if you use DHCP, make sure you forward the ports correctly.
What type of router do you have anyway? That is the most important piece of information.
