Every map should be a water map.

Haha I would actually love a water only mini-tournaent, where the water and anti-water meta could be explored more and advanced. If it brings games like g3 here it's gonna be good.

I m thinking about a water tournament for years, but if it s a tourney with 4 players,it has no interest, and it s a bit hard to water boom with other civ than port atm...

If something like that is ever going to happen now or sometime this year would be the time to do it as people have been much more open-minded about water play recently than ever before in AoE3's history.

I don't think limiting the play to water-only is good though--maybe have only water maps.

Well I didn't mean that you are forced to play water necesarily; just that all the maps are water maps. So if there are 2 land players they will just agree to play land, if it is 1 land player vs 1 water player, or 2 water players, it would be interesting.

Yeah this is what I meant. And I think people have become more open-minded to water because of the EP water change; being able to do your normal build and just having the option to just add some fishing boats at 20 minutes is, I think, more appealing than having to learn a completely new way to play with new BO's.

2) New England
3) Baja California
4) Borneo
5) Wadmalaw
6) Alaska
7) Manchuria/Hudson Bay/Florida

Also I don't understand how people can still say New England sucks in the twitch chat when every game on New England ends up being epic

there's a difference between concept and execution. NE has a great concept, but quite poor execution, though it's a bit better since the patch changed some stuff. But tres, hunt location, livestock, tp line location and aspects of the water, are still very inconsistent while having huge impact in some games.

So epic that you veto it :hmm:
New England just has alot of stuff going for it: 4 TP traderoute, two ponds, sea (with good nats too), easy wallability, very good but very imbalanced treasures (you can end up finding 4 90/80f treasure in a row or end up with 130exp, two dogs, a tomahawk and 90c...), those treasure are so good that going for a TP almost seems bad, there is also livestock and sometimes you end up with 4 inbase hunts, two mines and wood and sometimes you have one hunt, one second far mine and wood upfront and nothing in the back of your base.
Age I on NE is so fucking crowded, its hilarious, only Mongolia is worse in that point.

I don’t know if it’s been implemented into the current patch yet, but the new version of NE should be much more consistent. I think the spawn in this particular game this series was also as near to perfect as it gets.

And the veto has nothing to do with how good the map is and everything to do with opponent and preparation.

Treasures is a completely different discussion and is really something I think we should tackle in future iterations of EP, but so far no one’s really seemed to want to try.

Yea, NE is one of my favourite maps. When the ressources are balanced it always brings interesting games because you have to fight for the TP line while controling the lakes, so the games are always very interesting strategically.
It's definitely better than the no TP maps where only half of the civs and one strat are viable.

Just because you veto it for strategic reasons doesn't mean you can't admit alot of games played there are quite cool.

Yeah it's not very often I enjoy water games haha. I guess it's because NE is more about warships and culvs than about hiding and running around the map like you get on Baja or Indonesia for example. So it's faster and there's more micro involved.

In hindsight, after I cleaned up the island, I really needed to take control of your pond and push on land. When you got a monitor in that pond I lost the whole TP line and my fb. If I made a frig in there and massed lb/pike, instead of wasting resources on more warships and towers, I think I could have had a scary push, while hopefully holding half of the water.
