dunno, i've seen him play on stream a bit yesterday, doesn't seem like a big difference. the only difference is in build orders and experience. and ofc experience matters a lot in this game, but for the sake of this argument then ofc we'd have to assume similar knowledge of the meta.

Well, I think I kinda know how to do an Aztec FI and have won vs most civs with it, but it doesn't work vs India. 50 mace and 15 skull knights lose to 40-50 Sepoys, 2 mahouts and 20 urumis with cease fire.

Skull knights just totally useless vs urumi/sepoy. I guess you need to do something else instead, like erk, but then obviously it's slower cause they're not auto upgraded to industrial like knights are. And you actually need natural resources too.

you can cover with skulls, helps vs urumi and sepoy both to tank like shit

Yeah erk is too slow, youre gonna have india‘s army in base before you can get a decent army.
Skulls in cover dont kill the mahouts fast enough, you need to kill those or you’re losing all your mace. But once the mahouts are dead you got like 5 skulls left and those wont make a difference. It feels hopeless tbh.

That's for sure, if you have 50 maces and 15 skulls, he'll have 2 mahouts, 20 urumis and at best 10 sepoys, which is totally manageable.

when armies are approx 100+ pop india one is just stronger. Azzies can beat that but you need like 2 waves which you don't get time to get.
And infinite urumi card doesn't help because in FI vs FI it's gonna be relevant forever. It would be different it if was long colonial into IV game where shipping urumi cards is going to be underwhelming comparing to what civs can pop out at that point with like maxed out ecoes.
