Hello community !
I make this thread here in order to gather ideas for adding treasures in new maps. It can be relatively standard or highly crazy, feel free to express your ideas for treasures that you would like to see !

i know many people dont prefer it but what about high level tres in some maps? it changes meta in the map(cascade range has a unique play style because of small tres for example), in colonial with units u can kill these treasures.
Also u change map meta like weird buffs for rushing civs:
infantry siege +%10
inf training time -%20
a treasure giving hot air baloon
a treasure giving tp wagon(in non-route maps it looks balanced motivates to make natives)
los +2

And maybe a map like rockies, a lot of mid-level tres which is critical for age 1.

1 Petard - guarded by Renegado + Pistolero + Pirate (or 3 ranged ones)
1 Spy - guarded by the same

I also like the nat-tp-wagon, should probably be equivalent to a 80-100w treasure as it has one dimensional use and the opponent will also see it coming (so 2 Renegado/Pistolero?)

Would also like to see the 150c (3 wolves) and 140f (comanchero + 2 coyo). Dunno if there is another one that is as broken as those 2

-A trapped European explorer that regens health etc. Just like a regular explorer (guarded by like 6 pistoleros)

-A dock wagon on water maps

-gather rate boost such as 5% to berry gathering, 5% to wood gathering etc.

-edit: 5% reduction in vill train time

A treasure that put spies all over tha map for 10 minutes. This treasure should be heavily guarded by ronins and ninjas.

What I like is the treasure that takes a long time to take (so you have to think twice before committing) but can be taken without taken major damage (so that if the opponent comes close, you don't instantly your hero age lose the whole age 1). The best example of this treasure is 1 settler for 5 wolves. Good creeping is rewarded, time investment is rewarded, but you don't have to spend 200HP to get the treasure, or crackshot and come back again.

So I think something like 5 wolves -> 150 coin. Or 5 wolves > 110 wood. Or 4 wolves > 90w.

I'd implement some of already-existing treasures in scenarios like Lost into new maps. There you can see, for instance, an outpost wagon or a TC wagon, guarded by pistoleros, which are relatively easy to take with a bunch of hand cavalry.

How about some more flavorful hero upgrades based on which civ picks up the treasure:
- euro explorer gains lesser eagle eye ability
- aztec explorer gains lesser frightening aura (decrease damage or speed of enemy units)
- indian monk gains nilla area heal or just heals faster
- sioux explorer gains slightly improved speed aura
- iro warchief gains slightly improved hp aura
- chinese monk gains lesser dodge ability
- japanese monk gains lesser holy hand grenade

Could be guarded by three renegade musketeers.
Treasure description: "Uncover lost wisdom, granting your Explorer or Hero a unique upgrade." or something :hmm:
Upon pickup, the player receives a message explaining what it actually does for them specifically.

Some Monero coins, which could be used to bribe an opponent in team games. Since Monero is a privacy coin the bribee would not put himself at risk with his team mates.

A treasure that gives the collector the power to rule of the seasons, so he/she can change the map to winter/summer version at will.

Today at school I had a thought unrelated to Eagle's suggestions that a treasure could provide a civ's explorer with a spyglass. That's for start, further on you could perhaps add more abilities, like the aforementioned ones. Guardians: I'd say the same as for a 100-wood treasure.

I like this thread, it reminds me of one of my favorites on ESOC: viewtopic.php?f=318&t=5336&p=113741&hilit=design#p113741
Btw, how about a treasure guarded by 50 macaques and that gives you 50 snow monkeys ?

Interesting guardian combinations:
1 pistoliero, 1 renegado, 1 comanchero
2 pistolieros,1 grizzly bear
2 / 3 / 4 / 5 /6 renegade musketeers from SPC Act "Ice"
1 buccaneer captain and 2 pirates
1 rhino and 2 blowgunners

exotic units as guardians:
Ranging from very strong ones to interesting alternatives to wild animals. They could have a speed different than the ridiculous 7 (although I would keep it for melee units)
black rider
7 speed landsknecht
jaeger
hackapell
Chinese iron trooper (Asian maps)
yojimbo (Asian maps)
7 speed samurai (Asian maps) / generally TAD civ units
7 speed coyote runner
eagle runner knight
7 speed skull warrior
cetan bowman
7 speed clubman / generally TWC units
native warrior guardians—Nootka, Cree, Cheerokee, Zapotec
war dog
huari stronghold (needs to be sieged down to reveal the now freed tresure beneath)

but foremost... a ninja! Think of it: a unit with multipliers against explorers, forcing to use some military to take the treasure and still posing some risk
for similar reasons: a spy

Atypical units could be guardians that can be neither converted, nor skillshot, because they lack a treasure guardian tag! It could make room for new treasure-hunting strategies

treasure content:
TC wagon
dock wagon
outpost wagon
castle rikshaw
bank wagon
church wagon
arsenal wagon!
sanctuary wagon (or two)
trading post wagon
travois (general use)
monastery wagon (if it could also turn into a saloon for euro civs... / enable a saloon for native civs!)
2 / 3 tame Komodo dragons (like monkeys, but a little stronger and way cooler—you can use that description "a <Komodo dragon> family joins your cause")
several yaks, guarded by some native shepherds
spots all the herds on the map—just the way geological survey works ("tribal hunter shares his knowledge")
a shipment ("New World treasure, worth a special shipment from the capital")
turkey the intrepid explorer (easy to find for each player)
envoy
crate treasures—creating a unique dynamic where they might be worth more than a typical res treasure and less worth it when stolen—but give a clue that an opponent's villager will soon be exposed!
example values: 100c / 100w / 200f / 100w 100c 100f
change your food into less wood ("a pressed merchant who exchanges his resources")
change your food into coin
change your wood into more coin
change your coin into more wood
food trickle "thankfully rescued tribal chief promises you a trickle of..." (can use a Nootka/Cheerokee treasure model)
coin trickle
wood trickle
rainbow trickle
+ 40% villager HP
+10% / +15% villager speed (I remember boots of El Pollo Guapo having that effect if one picks them up with a villager, but this should be specific)
decreases villager training speed by 5% / 7% / 10%
2 captured crossbowmen / pikemen / yamabushi / cetans / clubs / coyotees
herdables fatten faster / can be gathered from faster (good on cattle maps)
enables your explorer unit to train: Axehilts / Wagners / Bucks / Fangs / Buttercups / Jaguars (what was her name in English?) / Disciples / Ambushers / Nootka Warchief
gives your warchief an aura "X's hero has gained experience in the wilderness and can lead his men better" / “experience in the wilderness has made x’s hero a better tactician”
damage buff aura
hp buff aura
speed buff aura
enemy speed decrease aura
mining speed buff "found a manual of mining advice"
hunting speed buff "-"-hunting -"-"
woodcutting speed buff "-"- forestry -"-"
mortar! "forlorn siege equipment from a long forgotten battle"
ram
chinese mortar
a singing parrot worth 80xp
a beautiful songbird worth 60xp
a native woman... (finish the sentence—creatively)
a native boy worth 50 food
runaway slaves worth 100 coin
drunk bandit with a 200 coin prize for his head
an ornate native shield worth 50 wood
some fraudulent minting equipment, decreasing all coin costs by 5%
an unusually ugly sight worth 60xp
a coin mine at the spot of the treasure, worth killing a few powerful guardians for "finds a silver / gold / copper / tin mine"
a spy willing to join their cause
2 sharks guarding 1 "wounded" Orca. (Not a shark, because sharks are not tamable, whereas a cetacean following humans that helped her/him is not unusual.)

In general: treasures especially potent for some civ(s), like cheaper houses for Brits or Japs, hand infantry damage for Aztec/India can be implemented into maps to help even a little those civs that are expected to fare poorly there!

also:
Feature that existing SPC treasure with a badass missionary fending off 2 wolves! Healer unit for not much of a cost can warm people up about tinkering with healers in general.

I think its Janey the pet jaguar
Still a bit shocked by things like "a native boy worth 50 food" or kill shepherds to get their herd
Otherwise nice post :flowers:

Btw, we should make à comprehensive list (on wiki?) of all Pollo Guapo and Halcon Sincero artifacts
