EP 7.0.x Smackdown [2019-09-22]

Smackdown patch is a separate branch of EP, introducing experimental changes not vetted by the regular EP balance team. The main purpose of the Smackdown patch is utilizing it for special Smackdown events hosted by @Interjection & @Mitoe or Escape.

Smackdown branch of EP can be accessed from the ESOC Patch Launcher by navigating to Tools -> Switch to EP Smackdown. This will also create a desktop shortcut after first usage, for easier access next time. Once you're on the Smackdown branch, simply launch ESOC Patch as normal, which will now have the experimental changes applied.

Smackdown Patch balance changes

General
- "The Naturalist" (II) politician now grants 4 Cows and 3 Settlers (up from 4 Cows).
- "The Bishop" (II) politician now grants a shipment (changed from 2 Settlers).
- "The Philosopher Prince" (II) politician cost reduced by 100f, now grants 400f in crates (down from 500f).
- All Asian Fortress Age wonders build-points reduced to 135 (down from 145).
- All Fortress Age politicians/councilors standard age-time reduced to 100s (down from 110s).
– "The Exiled Prince” & Fortress Age "The Messenger" age-time increased to 50s (up from 45s).
- "Mohawk Statesman" (III) politician now grants 7 Native Iroquois Tomahawks (changed from 3 Native Mantlets + 2 Native Scouts).
- "The Gentlemen Pirate" (III) politician now grants 3 Barbary Corsairs + 1 Privateer (up from 2 Barbary Corsairs + 1 Privateer).
- Plantation cost halved to 400w.

Dutch
- "The Sergeant at Arms" (III) politician now grants 6 Halberdiers (up from 5).

Germans
- "The Naturalist" (II) politician now grants 4 Cows, 1 Settler and 1 Settler Wagon (up from 4 Cows).
- "The Sergeant at Arms" (III) politician now grants 4 Doppelsoldners (up from 3).

Spanish
- "The Adventurer" (III) politician now grants 9 Crossbowmen (changed from 4 Crossbowmen + 4 Pikemen).

Aztecs
- The Wise Woman (II) tribal councilor now grants +10% to Farm and Plantation gather rate, 1 Farm Travois, 5 Llamas (up from +10% to Farm and Plantation gather rate).
- The Shaman (II) tribal councilor now grants +10% War/Nobles' Hut att/hp, 1 War Hut Travois and 1 Warrior Priest (up from +10% War/Nobles' Hut att/hp, 1 War Hut Travois).
- The Wise Woman (III) tribal councilor now grants +10% to Farm and Plantation gather rate, 2 Farm Travois, 5 Llamas (up from +10% to Farm and Plantation gather rate, 1 Farm Travois).
- The Shaman (III) tribal councilor now grants +15% War/Nobles' Hut att/hp, 2 Nobles' Hut Travois and 1 Warrior Priest (up from +10% War/Nobles' Hut att/hp, 2 Nobles' Hut Travois).

Iroquois
- The Warrior (II) tribal councilor now grants 4 Aenna + 1 Travois (changed from 1 Mantlet + 1 Travois).
- The Shaman (II) tribal councilor now grants 300 XP + 1 Travois (changed from 2 Travois).
- The Chief (II) tribal councilor now grants 3 Villagers + 1 Travois (up from 2 Villagers + 1 Travois).
- The Warrior (III) tribal councilor now grants 6 Forest Prowlers + 1 Travois (changed from 4 Mantlets + 1 Travois).
- The Shaman (III) tribal councilor now grants 300 XP + 3 Travois (up from 3 Travois).
- The Chief (III) tribal councilor now grants 7 Villagers + 1 Travois (up from 4 Villagers + 1 Travois).

Sioux
- The Wise Woman (II) tribal councilor now grants 3 Bison + 500f in crates (changed from +10% faster hunt gathering, 6 Bison).
- The Warrior (II) tribal councilor now grants 2 Axe Riders (up from 1).
- The Shaman (II) tribal councilor now grants a shipment (changed from crate of 500f).
- The Shaman (III) tribal councilor now grants a shipment (changed from crates of 1000f).

Is this a practical difference, or just a technical one? Apart from the sound, I mean. I didn't know there is such a distinction.

There is a distinct sound that plays whenever you gain enough experience to have a new shipment available and ready to send ("shipment ready"), which is different from the sound that plays once a shipment that you've sent arrives and takes effect ("shipment arrived"). Unfortunately, I have initially mixed up these two sound effects when implementing the new age-ups. In the default state, a tech that grants shipments does not have either sound effect, I had to add that in.

"Improved Grenades" (i know grens kinda suck but 178% improvement... vs china this would be brutal)
"Silk Road" (good grief)

*Every single Iroquois colonial infantry upgrade card stacked up for basically imperial stats*

But most importantly

"Improved Mercenaries"

Ooh boy this will be interesting

Well, not by hand... I wrote a little script in python to iterate over all card techs and copy paste all their effects one more time.

Ah okay, I wondered if you were doubling numbers, but this makes sense. Modifying the numbers on ResourceExchange effects would probably make more sense, e.g., on HCXPFurTrade making it a 1.50 instead of 1.25 multiplier, as having the effect duplicated does nothing. Similarly, anything that using an "Assign" data modifier (see HCXPNationalUnity, HCMercenaryLoyalty, HCMosqueConstruction, HCCheapMarketsTeam, HCCheapDocksTeam, HCXPWarChiefAztec2, HCXPOldWaysIroquois, others...) may behave in a more logically "doubled" way by modifying the numbers.

They do @dansil92 but since Genitours is nerfed on EP anyways, it's not as insane. Also there is just much greater shipments in IV, like 2 factories or 52 rattan shields lol

I just cant stop thinking of crazy strategies for this smackdown and im not even playing- azzy would be crazy (infinite 1200 coin age 2, 6 warrior priests, and those extra long range erks with an even more boosted and speedy warchief)
Ports could play atp for 50 wood tradeposts, colonial militia doing 100% damage and improved buildings and basically be invincible on a defensive map, esp. With water.
But the one i cant stop thinking of is japan. Heavenly kami, 4 cherry orchard, 4 flaming arrows x2 (!) 2 daymios, yumi attack + way of the bow giving even more range... and 14 vills x2!

Honestly im so excited for this round!

Edit: oops forgot germany haha 4 settler wagons age 1, 6 in colonial and 4 uhlan with every colonial shipment, advanced mercenaries boosting 40% combined with 26 jaegers and what, 18 black riders? Ooh boy haha
