I asked this because I just sort of realised that the banner school card also seem to affect the consulate armies, effectively instant training them when combined with good faith and accupuncture.
This isnt in the description of the card, so I wanted to check if there is a banner army tag or is this coded for individual armies.

Acupuncture acts on "unit" which as far as i am aware, includes villagers, fishing ships, natives, disciples, banner armies, consulate units.
Banner school appears to affect consulate 'armies' but not the techs/brigade but im not certain why. I may pull up the tech tree code just to check

I think its because the brigade counts as a tech and not an unit being trained. The brigade is affected by Confucius' Gift so its probably just because it counts as a tech being reserached.

Cons army batches (except Japanese isolation) do have the banner army tag, so does army batch from doji. U can get instant brig since, as u said, the combined effect of GFA, banner school, and acupuncture, not sure about the Confucius' gift

w8 does that mean that the summer palace is also affected by banner school? or does it have the offset effect as well.

Summer Palace armies are counted entirely seperately. The summer palace spawns a ...thing... that spawns the army. Thats how it avoids train time techs and stuff
