Regular freezes
Regular freezes
Hey guys,
I just bought a new computer cuz I was a bit bored to play on a shitty laptop with 50fps at max and because I needed a desktop anyway, but now I’ve regular freezes with the game but without any fps drops (they just stay at 120 but the game freezes from anywhere to 1sec to 5sec) and it’s just unplayable. Anyone has experienced something similar? Any idea would help. All drivers are up to date and graphic card is GeForce RTX 4060 Ventus 8GB. Weirdly it doesn’t happen always but when it does it’s just plain awful.
Thanks.

Re: Regular freezes
first of all if these freezes is only on aoe3 then it's related to game setting and game files and doesn't relate to the things below and also check that your monitor cable is connected to your graphic card and not your motherboard internal graphic(cause my friend did this once he bought his pc for the first time).
but if you experience these freezes on all games it's is mostly related to your RAM or your hard disk.
1.you can try to lower your RAM frequency in your motherboard UEFI setting.
2.try to swap your RAMs slots to other slots.
3.it can also because of bad RAM , if you're running on dual RAM try to take one out and try the game to find that bad RAM.
4.if none of above solved your problem it can also be your ssd or hdd , so try to uninstall the game and install it on another ssd or hdd(if you have an old one).

Re: Regular freezes
I agree it smells like a RAM problem. You could also try to reinstall the OS itself.
Check RAM usage with ctrl alt delete and let us know what you find

Re: Regular freezes
I have had the same issues. Ram is less than 30% utilized, hard drive read writes fine, gpu not highly utilized. I’ve come to the conclusion it’s a driver issue, likely related to my amd processor.
Re: Regular freezes
I would def try to play some other game (more demanding than aoe3de but that your PC SHOULD run) and see how it works. I also recently upgraded PC (Geforce 4070s) and few weeks in I was getting some noticable lag, swapped from HDMI to Display-port and seemed to solve the issue for me.
Would also play around with ur in-game settings to see if that changes anything, start with everything set to low then change stuff gradually. These are the settings I use: https://i.imgur.com/BuK1rhH.png

Re: Regular freezes
for me it only happens after i played like 4-5 games in a row or some team games...especially 3v3 is the worst if i dont restart th egame after every match.
There seems to be a ram leakage of some sort, bcs my ram usage goes up from 35% to about 65% after some games and when i restart its at 45%ish so i guess the game just sucks ass. i have 3000mhz 16gb ram and a rtx2060super.
if it only occures after some games try restarting, it might help.

Re: Regular freezes
Thx for ur replies. Ram usage is always below 30% and the ssd just works fine. When it happens, it’s from game 1 and restarting game or computer doesn’t change anything. I reduced the number of processors in the ’processor affinity tab’ in the task manager to only the first 8 and it seems to help quite a bit… In game options are quite similar to yours tabben. I’ll keep investigating.

Re: Regular freezes
Try these:
- Disable XBox Game Browser
- Disable NVIDIA Overlay
The recent Windows update seems to be causing some issues for a few games prone to memory leaks, but this seems to improve things.
Goodluck!

Re: Regular freezes
Yeah, could be that the latest windows update had his share of responsibility in the freezes.
Don’t know why or how, but it has just stopped happening (at least for now), without me changing anything at all really.
