Re: Confirmed AoE3:DE information
yeah I was worried about the ui as well. But if you watch the whole thing, you will see that one time the ressources are shown on the top, and another time on the bottom (kinda right). So It seems like there is some customizability in the UI. I hope it's gonna be possible to just use the current one.

Re: Confirmed AoE3:DE information
My guess is they'll have a menu option like what we hve right now for "minimised ui" or whatever. I think having the aoe2 style and aoe3 style menus as options will open it up for both communities to feel comfortableamiggo1999 wrote:yeah I was worried about the ui as well. Re: Confirmed AoE3:DE information
At least in AoE2:DE you can move UI as you wish if you edit json filesamiggo1999 wrote:yeah I was worried about the ui as well. Re: Confirmed AoE3:DE information
I really hope the mini map doesn’t end up on the right. Goes on the left. No debate.

but is that hack or is it the actual way they designed it to be?tempires wrote:At least in AoE2:DE you can move UI as you wish if you edit json filesamiggo1999 wrote:yeah I was worried about the ui as well. You can switch back to the original UI as an option.iNcog wrote:omg the UI looks like ASSrnmrtzk wrote:Is there also a new armor introduced?

Re: Confirmed AoE3:DE information
Looks promising. They actually improved it a lot more than I had expected.
They said that they reworked all the textures in the game, which is an insane task on its own.
Some UI choices are questionable, but I like that they adopted that style which I tried to implement in a custom UI, by making those panels on the bottom autohide when a unit is not selected. This clears the screen and gives the player a more unobstructed view of the map. On the other hand, they blew up minimap buttons and unit stats font size so much that they seem made for boomers with eyesight problems. It would be cool if they had a fader button that can adjust the scaling of the UI dynamically, like LoL has.
If they made it work across platforms, then this might mean they rewrote the networking part. This could mean a new ESO or whatever they'll call it, unless they just made it only work on platforms that already exist like Steam or Xbox, but not on ESO or a new ESO.
Anyway, I'm stoked about how it looks like, if it also lags less or not more than AOE3 :Taunt11:

Re: Confirmed AoE3:DE information
I just realised watching the gameplay footage though that the cannon smoke alone will probably cause some lower end laptop to just giveup and die. Hopefully they have an option for that

The only thing worse than capybaras are turkeys on Bayou.
Re: Confirmed AoE3:DE information
Bayou is one of the yuckiest maps
Re: Confirmed AoE3:DE information
In previous versions UI was hardcoded or something but in DE it's in my experience quite open. Also, I think devs said they wanted to make UI moddable so, yes? .json files are clean and easy to edit with text editor.jorgeguerra wrote:but is that hack or is it the actual way they designed it to be?tempires wrote:At least in AoE2:DE you can move UI as you wish if you edit json filesamiggo1999 wrote:yeah I was worried about the ui as well. I think there is good chance AoE3:DE UI is made same way as is AoE2:DE. That would also mean that you could make new look for some UI parts too

Fun fact, there are actually 2 hunt types on Yucatan. Kapibara e Tapir. One is worth 400f the other 500f.Aizamk wrote:

Re: Confirmed AoE3:DE information
Anyone know if they're gonna fix hunts in the new edition? It'd be pretty sick if they did.
