I’m surprised that everyone talks about how SW is OP

but rarely talks about India and Japan. These are considered as the most powerful civs in my country. Do players in my country overrate India and Japan?

1. India is currently op because of a bug but it will get fixed. Other than that, India is fine. Don't forget that sepoys got nerfed (190 => 180 HP), which is massive.

2. People have always overrated Japan because it's super strong in the lower levels (you don't need to herd, if your opponent isn't agressive on the map you just win in late game etc), but at high level the civ is good but not op.

I am no pro.

Years ago I made threads for each matchup I thought was bad and fingered every better player to come up with a strategy for this MU. It was helpful, but as long as I believed my civ is weak, no amount of advice was going to help me.

I started believing that if you fool yourself with excuses like-
"My civ is weak. Other civ is OP"
"This is unwinnable MU"

Please don't do that. It will just increase your chances to lose.

I agree there are bad matchups, broken civs, but that should not take away your confidence of playing that matchup and enjoying the game.

If you have a mindset that India and Japan are OP (leave the truth on better players), you will never improve your strategy against playing them by giving yourself excuses like "Yeah Japan would have won anyway this is a bad matchup, nothing I can do."

You can choose to enjoy the diversity of the game.

Ye good mindset.
Some MUs are really bad but honestly, even at high level you can win almost any MU in the game if you surprise your opponent and try your best. The funny thing is that by doing that, you sometimes figure out that some MUs people thought were hopeless aren't hopeless at all.

As a player group where I’m in sees India and Japan OP so I tend to agree with it but maybe we are wrong. I’m not a good player at all so can’t say much though.

If he played aoe3, he would do so under a completely unknown alias. If you were high-skilled before, you don't want people to see you noobing around, being a shade of your former self, so you hide.

It could be grunt. The guy is #80 on the aoe2 ladder, and I don't know a single aoe2 top player who's decent at aoe3.
