I think I said something like "Focus the jap so he can't boom" earlier in a team game and it got starred out. Is Jap offensive? Apologies if it is, I was just typing quick and surprised it got censoredCuCkO0 wrote:Idiots are so obsessed with their profanity filter. Pointless addition to the update. Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552
So age I uhlan is not a bug?
Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552
it might be that it was discovered later so it isn't fixed yet.fei123456 wrote:So age I uhlan is not a bug?
the china upgrade bug also isn't fixed though I think that has been in there since TAD.
as I expected they want the incan counter artillery to basically be suicide chimmu runners
Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552
I have played 4 games and no elo change at all. These were all 1v1 so I believe rankings are not working at all.
Further - I also saw the message that I need to play 10 games to be ranked upon viewing the ladder, which is weird, because I have already been ranked and played 40 games.
The ladder also appears to be broken still. I cant scroll it or view past 200, as well as 50-99 and 150-199 are not veiwable. Also, the names appear as numbers before they gradually refresh to show names.
Now when I load into a game the opponents name appears as player 1 or player 2, in a 1v1.
Spaghetti code much? Chuck some sauce on top...tasty....

Yes, Jap is considered to be offensive in real life. Should not be in game though as it not used as insult and no one will write jpn instead.Donye wrote:I think I said something like "Focus the jap so he can't boom" earlier in a team game and it got starred out. Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552
Some good improvements are mentioned in the changelog. What else got broken is yet to be found. My highlights are:
- Fixed an issue where fallen Explorer tooltips would persist at all times and obstruct the player’s view.
- Removed an unintended (spoooooky) green flicker that would occasionally appear at the start of pre-rendered cinematics. <- this proves that devs are people too
- Added anti-aliasing options to the Graphics settings menu: TAA, FXAA, No AA
- Implemented improvements to the game’s Temporal AA.
- The population cap will no longer prevent queued units from spawning; it will only prevent new units from being added to the queue. This allows for “overpop’ing.”
- Fixed an issue which prevented certain Villagers (Coureur des Bois, Cree Coureur des Bois, and Settler Wagons) from constructing Town Centers
- Royal Green Jackets: Now properly applies its damage bonus vs. Heavy Infantry to the Gurkha
- Corrected the cost of Villagers from 85 food to 100 food.
- Englesberg Ironworks: Now properly improves the Torp’s coin collection rate by +150%—as indicated by the tooltip (previously granted +200% but erroneously stated +150%).
- Fixed an issue where the casual game list would snap back to the top of the page, making it difficult to find and enter game lobbies.
- Added the ability to browse multiplayer lobbies while in a game lobby.
- More information next week! We already have the next update in the works, and will report back next week to discuss what to expect and when we’d like to get it into your hands!
- The treasure, “A crate of plums worth 60 food” guarded by one Lion, now grants 50 food.

Apparently (I didn't test though), they remove 1 wood crate from the Dutch.

A reconnect option when you crash would be good

Can someone tell me about Anti-Aliasing in layman's terms? How does it affect gameplay?

Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552
@_DB_ it's a graphical setting that makes pixel-y sharp things (raw textures when displayed on LCDs) look smoother by blending pixels a little bit.
There are different methods of doing this:
- FXAA being the simplest (less taxing) and also the same that original AOE3 offered.
- TAA being the new one that DE uses and the one that @EAGLEMUT 's mod allowed to turn off. Try to turn it off and check for yourself how sharp the pixels look, how lines are turned into staircases and how moving things seem to shiver in an ugly way.
- SAA or supersampling (also available in DE) being considered the highest quality one but also the most demanding, as it essentially just renders the game at a higher resolution than you are using and scales it down to fit (i.e. the bruteforce method of reducing aliasing effects).

Is there a way to see units behind trees yet?
Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552

Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552
Is ladder working? Has this been reported to the devs?
Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552
Yep this fixed it for me_NT_sven wrote:have you switched off shadow quality? switch it on and it should be okayScroogie wrote:Is there a way to see units behind trees yet?
Also what the hell might be the reason for the dutch change? So in age 1 ure just supposed to build a house and no tp?

Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552
Yeah dutch are dead now, I finally got a build order that worked a bit (losing - work in progress - on army skills and scouting but eco was finally doing fine) Cutting 100 wood of start crates is too much- that's one minute+ with 3 vills on wood-, why not cut it by 50? The adjustment is to big of a step.I_HaRRiiSoN_I wrote:meanwhile dutch players be like:

Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552
Yeah very nice to see this update (supposedly?) fixes a lot of major issues, and that they're planning on releasing many more updates.
That can't excuse huge issues like elo not updating, or not being able to scroll down the game browser, though. Very basic stuff that used to work just fine on legacy, and can be tested in approx 5 minutesiCourt wrote:Its a nightmare to code for this game.

Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 3552
They already get the extra coin crate, which is great for them. They shouldn't get an extra wood crate as well, I'm glad the devs changed that. At most, give them extra 100f 100g, or extra 100f 100w, not 100w 100gblackout wrote:Also what the hell might be the reason for the dutch change?
