WCG 2008 Footage: Interviews, Bloopers, Tears, etc.

I left out Part 1, as it was just their german banter in the hotel room and nothing of the WCG itself was shown apart from a few seconds. So I start with Part 2, if you care about Part 1, just click on the channel name and look at Part 1
At 2:38 a little interview with the eventual winner takes place. Towards the end of Part 3, we can take a glimpse at the Finals being played, then an interview with The_Demon follows, GG.

As an honorable mention, aoe2 (AOC) at WCG 2002 footage:

Our little water boy looks so young and innocent! Oh to be 15 again!

Edit: upon self-reflection, I’ve realized that AOE3 has been out for over half of my life, and I’m still playing it; amazing!

Too bad that even in '08, H2O was legal already (18).
I saw this footage years ago, but by logging into my YouTube again, it got re-recommended to me.

I guess since its on youtube you dont need to ask for the permission of these guys to post it, but in case you wonder: For my part I allow it, because I was part of this awesome trip. Btw, it was not a hotel room but a bowling room underneath the hotel :D

That's what I was thinking, thank you for the permit ^_^
A bowling room? Well if it was underneath the hotel, I'm still somewhat correct :P

No he was definitely 14. I remember his parents had to sign a note to let him go!

I don't think so. He used to always tell me that his 13th birthday was the most memorable one for him because he got to go to WCG.

Then how do you explain the note that his parents signed stating he was 12? Did they lie to WCG officials? Should we file an inquiry?

I know you are trying to cause confusion here :P , but Ryan did state in one of his interviews with Interjection that he was 25, which took place in 2015. He's definitely a 1990 kid.

I remember his parents were afraid something would happen to their newborn baby on Y2K. Which puts him being born in 1999; he's definitely 11. I think you mean he's a "90s" kid which can imply any of the 10 years in that decade!

Except 1990 isn’t in the same decade as 1999. Here we go again!

During the Chicago meet-up after we'd all had a few beers and were relaxing, laughing, I remember asking Ryan the very normal question of how old he was for WCG 2008. He got quiet and looked at his feet. "El-eleven." I knew it was a lie because I'd watched a lot of pick-up artist body language expertise videos on YouTube. His feet were pointed to the side and parallel, composing the number eleven sideways, indicating he was focused on these two digits but could not maintain honesty in them. Our bodies never lie. It was at that point I knew Ryan was ten years old at WCG 2008.

Data entry errors happen. It's especially easy given how close 9 and 0 are to each other on the keyboard. Let's not distract from the real narrative here though: for a 9 year old; he was a video game prodigy.

Love this quote: "Mancl not only adapted, he spent many hours practicing and going through the game using different strategies."

Personally, I like the part where he played Japan and made ashi.

You just wish you had a thread dedicated to your life activities 12 years ago on a small video game community forum.

My strongest memory from this time is Ryan hanging out with some monkey in China a lil bit after wcg. This guy is everywhere. Hard to tell his age from that pic but i would guess somewhere between 9 and 18.

Amazing! I remember it too. There's one out there where he's doing the Charlie's Angels pose as well.
