Why? Hussars do more dps to lancers than goons do. Units don't need a multiplier to be a hard counter. Try running a batch of lancers into huss or uhlan and let everyone know how that goes

Maybe because hand cav DPS is high no matter of the scenario...

It doesn't mean hussars hard counter lancers. With this logic you could say hussars counter goons, as they beat them in terms of dps. However I see your point you're making here, it's an obvious one. But it's still not a hard counter.

I don't need to run a batch of lancers to hussars or uhlans to know how it goes.

I mean, it doesnt even matter how they dps cause you hit and run with goon while hussard get hit by lancer so obviously goon > hussard.

There is a difference between an effective weapon vs something and being a hard-counter. True, Hussars are good vs falconets, but they don't ubercounter them. Culverins do, same as Arrow knights or Yabusame.
Crossbows also do fairly well vs muskets, but they don't hardcounter them like skirmishers do.

But he is right. The point was made about unit counters, which don't change with the gamemode or amount of players (1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4).
So you saying Spain is underpowered in team compared to 1v1 doesn't touch the subject at all.

One Civ is ok in 1v1 but is UP in team game.
Some civs are ok in 1v1 but are OP in team game.
