Shaking hands is not advisable during a global pandemic. Therefore I don't say gg.

It's like shaking hands. Even those people who supposedly don't say gg because "it wasn't a gg" are mostly lying, because they only refuse to say it if they lose. If they win, they usually still say gg, even if it wasn't a good game.

But do you said gg if you win/lose because of a bug or stuff like that?

Depends. If in football, a team got a lucky penalty against you and won the game off that you'd still shake hands. But if they bribed the ref, then obviously you wouldn't. Saying gg is the same idea. If someone had something lucky happen, that is the game. You'd still say gg. But if they were exploiting bug abuse/cheating then you probably don't say gg.

When the game was fair (i.e. not cheating), being nice is always a good choice.

In fact being nice is always a good choice.

Not like it's the opponent's fault? I'd say gg anyway. Can still say: damn, my tomas were stuck, annoying bug

I only wouldn't say gg if the opponent cheated (TAD QS), because if the opponent breaks the game rules there is no need for courtesy.

It's like shaking hands. It's like saying "you don't need to walk on eggshells around me because you won". This is important to communicate because, often enough, one does have to walk on eggshells after winning a game. The "gg" relieves tension. For this reason it becomes a bit redundant if you're playing with or against friends imo.

I do disagree with "gg". I prefer "thanks for the game" or "congrats" but somehow, in video games, people say "gg" as if every game is good. It's not about whether the game was good, it's about communicating that you're not about to smash your keyboard.

What the fuck is wrong with people? Have you all lost your faith? I know times can be tough with corona, but that should not weaken our beliefs. It should strengthen them. For we know he is great.

the "glhf" people who write it at the start of every game are seriously losing precious microseconds that could be better used to manage vills and split them 2 by 2 on every food box while the explorer is "exploring"

You are talking as if both cannot happen at the same time.
Look at this:

Said gg? Yes.
Smashed keyboard? Yes.

Being a mid-tier player is funny. Some MS and 2. Lts you inevitably play against will often say shit like "bg, just rush, boring" when you make units before the 10 minute mark. Legit happens to me quite regularly.

I in general agree with @Le Hussard sur le toit . Being preemptively nice is almost never a bad choice, so i try to gg everytime.

If you are on team "words have an inherent meaning that is encased in their sound and is not defined purely by usage" and saying "gg" irks you, just say "thanks for the game" or something.

What I personally always find a bit weird is if I lose and the opponent/winner says "gg wp". Always unsure if it's just a compliment (but unfortunate, bc the winner is more complimenting himself) or just a taunt/BM.
