You guys got it all wrong. You think aoe3 is about building an empire and fighting your opponent? You are dead wrong.
The true goal of the game is to embrace native (indigenous) american culture
This is more important than Dutch having a 100 or 100 crate or Uhlans having 180 or 190 HP.

Before Europeans cast off for far-flung shores to “discover” the Americas, roughly 60 million Indigenous people already called North, Central, and Southern America, the Caribbean, and the Hawaiian Islands home—and had done so for thousands of years. In fact, members of the Plymouth Colony—founded in 1620 by the English in Massachusetts—would not have survived their first years in North America were it not for the assistance of The Wampanoag (People of the First Light). It’s safe to say that if you reside in one of the previously mentioned locations, you’re on what was traditionally Native land.
As Native American Heritage Month concludes in the United States, the Age of Empires team and Xbox are honored to feature Hunkpapa elder, Cedric Good House, in our final interview with the cultural consultants who assisted us in rebuilding Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition.
I have a feeling that microsoft is using AOE3 as some kind of litmus test to see if video game players can take drastic changes to their game to appease someone else. They didn't do it with AOE2 because it's too popular and too much of a money grab and not with AOE1 because there wasn't a scene but AOE3 had a scene but was small enough not to affect money sacks.
Maybe the spoils of the enxt smaller tourney, like last weekends little draft tourney could go to that, I think the players wouldnt mind and it would definitely be a nice gesture.
Sorry, stop everybody!
We need to call in @fightinfrenchman to get to the bottom of what constitutes as "drastic change"

"Land acknowledgement: Microsoft and Xbox office buildings are on the traditional lands of the Stillaguamish and Coast Salish peoples of the Pacific Northwest."

give it back then you assholes you run this shit
I think this statement reflects the problem many people have with "honoring" other cultures. In most cases these honors are just empty gestures devoid of any import, whose only real purpose is to enhance the giver's image. It's hard not to get annoyed when something you care about (e.g. aoe3) gets neglected in favor of virtue signaling.

That's exactly what it is about. They don't care, they just want to look good.

I see it a little different. I'm sure some of the people at Microsoft care. It's probably a spectrum. There are the hardcore believers in neoliberal progress through corporate diversity initiatives, and there are the cynical capitalists who purely see a statement like this as a calculation in terms of profit and risk. And there there are loads of people in between, plus loads of people who don't have an opinion one way or another
But the point is that none of that really matters. It doesn't matter what anyone there thinks about this, because Microsoft is practically part of the defense industry at this point and is structurally woven into the fabric of the state. There's literally no possibility for Microsoft to continue to exist the way it does while also upholding indigenous sovereignty, which is an idea that implies the disintegration of American sovereignty to some degree. Which is why I just don't take any of their stuff about native representation that seriously-- it's not going to liberate Native Americans, and it's ALSO not going to undermine America or push the SJW / PC agenda or whatever else the reactionaries on this site think is going to happen if you take away fire pits or don't like Hauds mine gold or whatever
yeah i also like looking at it in my steam library
