Introducing Rating Modifier to Encourage Civ Diversity
Introducing Rating Modifier to Encourage Civ Diversity
Back in Legacy times the rating system calculated the average civ winning rate on ladder as a modifier. Like if you go lame India, Iro, Turkey etc., you would gain very little PR after winning games. I think it's a good idea to introduce this system back to DE to reward using less OP civs. What do people think?

How do you decide if a civ is good or bad though ? A mediocre player with an op civ might get a 50% winrate, while a top player with a bad civ will get 75%. We had this issue on EP, and it's not very fair.
Honestly, the best solution is just to balance the game.

Re: Introducing Rating Modifier to Encourage Civ Diversity
This would be bad everyone is annoyed to play 1 civ or the other so it doesn't mean we need to introduce the system to nerf the civ picks ,for eg i hate playing against lakota.
Re: Introducing Rating Modifier to Encourage Civ Diversity
Yeah but when the game is still going through the process of balance improvement idk if it's better to just calculate it based on say 1600+ rating players' stats, or to leave it as it is[Armag] diarouga wrote:How do you decide if a civ is good or bad though ? Better to leave it as it is. The balance is not the same at 1600 and 2000 elo frankly._NT_sven wrote:Yeah but when the game is still going through the process of balance improvement idk if it's better to just calculate it based on say 1600+ rating players' stats, or to leave it as it is[Armag] diarouga wrote:How do you decide if a civ is good or bad though ? And i think sawing peaple jumping +50 place just by playing one civ is a sort of indicator of the balance.

Or an indicator that focusing on one civ only is a more efficient way to grind elochronique wrote:And i think sawing peaple jumping +50 place just by playing one civ is a sort of indicator of the balance.

What i mean is, when a (close to) mono civ player gain a lot of elo right after a buff of his main, is a sort of indicator.Garja wrote:Or an indicator that focusing on one civ only is a more efficient way to grind elochronique wrote:And i think sawing peaple jumping +50 place just by playing one civ is a sort of indicator of the balance.

Re: Introducing Rating Modifier to Encourage Civ Diversity
This game has enough forced diversity already.
Re: Introducing Rating Modifier to Encourage Civ Diversity
Idk if it's because I'm fairly low down the ladder, but the civs are fairly diverse that I play against in 1v1.
