Yeah you're right they likely got around the checksum. Apparently some people in the modding community figured out how to get around it fairly quickly, so to be honest I'm kind of surprised it's taken this long for the exploits to become commonplace again.Dolan wrote:Then they are modifying their binaries, injecting those functions back into the game. They are probably doing it in such a way that the checksum of the file stays the same.
If that's the case, Microsoft should include some kind of feature that checks the executable of the currently logged in player. Like a tool which checks for file corruption.

Finally, some real balance.Garja wrote:Aztec mining card only adds the coin cost. Slingers and coyotemen now cost food, gold AND wood.

Okay, this patch is actually good. Some long-standing balancing issues have finally been addressed. At first look, I don't even see any balance issues that are left. Let's see how this plays out.
I also like the changes to Dutch banking cards and the (pricey!) Japanese option to build livestock themselves.

Whatever is written above: this is no financial advice.

Probably Dutch. Those types of changes have the tendency to snowball out of control really quickly.Astaroth wrote:Already some impressions of the new top civ? Is it France?

Swe is going to stay top.
Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 20322
Jap change is quite the opposite of insightful in my opinion:
You are basically forced into a market +2v start in age 1 followed up by the torii gates age up. Other plays don't really make a lot of sense with this crate start, so I don't really think this accomplishes what's intended.
The aim was to delay their age up, while keeping several builds and wonders viable. A 50f reduction similar to the one France has received would make a lot more sense, since that would allow for port cons/kami/toshogu starts as well.

Other than that swe change is negligible, I dont understand why they dont just decrease blueberry gathering rates
Aztec changes are big, combined with the buff they received in age 1 already, they can be quite scary now.
Dutch has been lowkey high tier before, and is just getting stronger and stronger. There is a reason Rapha and Soldier (and others) are playing 100% Dutch, and the reason is certainly not that it's a bottom or mid tier civ

this is actually a buff to tori :( I think the +100 gold is a bad ideaJerimuno wrote:Jap change is quite the opposite of insightful in my opinion:

Bring back random crates.

Yes, cuz fixed crates push civs into certain specific starts unless ofcourse you have abundant start like deccan. It's pretty clear from posts above how a crate change has suddenly changed the start of Japan.[Armag] diarouga wrote:No.princeofcarthage wrote:Bring back random crates.

Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 20322
Nope, it's actually the opposite. With wood start, Japan can go consulate + kami, TP into toshogu, shrine into torii. With coin start, market into torii is the best way to play in many situations.princeofcarthage wrote:Yes, cuz fixed crates push civs into certain specific starts unless ofcourse you have abundant start like deccan. It's the same for almost every civ. Wood start gives you different options, coin only gives you one. And on top of reducing diversity, random crates create balance issues

it might be low lewel players are confused about Aztec units and have no clue what counters them.CR_Joops wrote:It's because Aztec are very strong further down the ladder, where 90% of people playSquamiger wrote:its very interesting how they specifically note that aztec has a high win percentage (???) and spain has one of the lowest. is that just because people who know what they are doing play aztec, while people who are complete noobs pick spain? its funny how its the opposite of what competitive players would rate them
nvm spain is just low in team games, makes sense
Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 20322
In RE Japan often start with 3 food 3 wood/2 wood 1 coin, and they're still a decent civ. Now they have 4 food 3 wood 1 coin start in every game, and you're still complaining?
Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 20322
There's no need to recognize Aztec units, if they pop 30 units (including 2 skulls) into your base in 6 minutes.toriancarconn wrote:it might be low lewel players are confused about Aztec units and have no clue what counters them.
Re: Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition — Update 20322
This. They need to make the counter symbols (unit types) more clear and merge shock infantry symbol with heavy cav.toriancarconn wrote:it might be low lewel players are confused about Aztec units and have no clue what counters them.CR_Joops wrote:It's because Aztec are very strong further down the ladder, where 90% of people playSquamiger wrote:its very interesting how they specifically note that aztec has a high win percentage (???) and spain has one of the lowest. is that just because people who know what they are doing play aztec, while people who are complete noobs pick spain? its funny how its the opposite of what competitive players would rate them
