Bad poll

It’s 4 o clock and the cold front ushers in a cool wind. The heat and humidity of an entire summer is swept out towards the Mississippi in large bellows funneled thru old brick box apartments. She left for work. I’m slumped against an alleyway retaining wall — the wind makes laps of my shirt, softest of whips. Dark morning’s peace.

The first chill of Midwest’s autumn hits — night’s perspiration is lifted off in gentle kisses. Follicles follow but the skin is taught, like a plucked bird. I am cool. I am half tempted to take off my shirt to become cold. Pluck it once instead to billow. Pores gasping for breath.

Of my back I make a break, strike a match, light a cigarette, inhale a comfortable heat. It’s time to shitpost, I think. Refresh for likes, first. Settle on a poll.

It’s 1 o clock and the afternoon heat is back. I wake from a long nap to pangs of throbbing temples, a dry throat, sweet film of sweat sticking to the sheets. I gulp water and heat coffee. Abiding pain. There is nothing until then so I eat an orange to pass the time.

Ice for the first cup and it’s emptied when it meets my lips. More water. I’m feeling good now if not slow. Relishing in the languid stupor of new post sleep I log on, hit refresh.

Down bad. Few likes. Missing members. I update, type “updated.” Hope.

Gotta shit, coffee compacting my colon. Untie my shorts and hit the porcelain hard. Refresh, first. Theres a new post from vinyaneyere. Up good. Elated and high and anally retenting for pleasure. Read post. Fucked up. Deleted votes. Stopped the count. Struggle to finish emptying. Finish, flush, grab a bottle of wine and set it in front of me on the table. Stare at release for hours on end and cry. Draw it, crumple it, do it again thirty times. Think of throwing something, anything.

Refresh. Other post is getting more likes. Put the wine away. Girlfriend comes home — I show her the curled pixel metacarpals pointing up. She pats my head and puts on my padded collar, a reward. “Extra tendies today, slave.” Salivate.
