It's a 700mb download but it applies on a 21gb space data. So in practice they patch 700mb but it applies in the whole game... I thought they had fixed that. We can''t re-download the whole every time they increased or decrease unit values in a word pad.
Re: Update 43871
Looking at the patch notes on the Steam community hub bc the link doesn't work. Sure there are some nice nerfs to Africa civs, but then they went and added 10 new cards to each Africa civ too? Some of which look pretty broken. Like an age 4 team card for Ethiopia that sends 1 big boy mortar for everyone on the team, and a number of economic upgrade cards for hausa.
Oh geez, and team coffee consumption for 10% speed increase to units, too. Ethiopia is about to be stacked in 3v3s

I give it 3 days before someone comes up with an exploit on how to (ab)use this new ludicrous zoom feature to do terrible things.

Re: Update 43871
Mn, sometimes I think the balance team has got some random people who just give suggestions from time to time to the ones who are steady at balance, There are always one or two tweaks that are so fucking random and unnecessay. And come on: Really? New cards to brand new civs that are top meta?Squamiger wrote:Looking at the patch notes on the Steam community hub bc the link doesn't work. Hausa and Ethiopians are not the ones that need new and reworked cards in this game.
Of all things to be included as brand new...they did spend 1 month thinking on more cards to african civs. Unbelievable. SMH

Impressed with the amount of work they did on this patch, and even more support and new content in the future! Great news!

Re: Update 43871
Why are people bitching about a new civ being announced?
All in all, amazing patch in the right direction.

I guess because every civ theyve released has been an epic failLazarosVas wrote:Why are people bitching about a new civ being announced?

Re: Update 43871
Because most people on esoc don't like fun and new things and would rather just play the same game that's been out since 2006.LazarosVas wrote:Why are people bitching about a new civ being announced?

Re: Update 43871
Eh even me who likes new things and taking the game in fun different directions, I get a minor feeling of dread when they announce a new civ and honestly I don’t think the balance this time is going to reel in Hausa and Ethiopia enough. I think those two are good designs at least unlike Sweden and Inca (US is okay but not good) but they’ve got a few too many good toys and too many things shadow upgrade, among other issues.gibson wrote:Because most people on esoc don't like fun and new things and would rather just play the same game that's been out since 2006.LazarosVas wrote:Why are people bitching about a new civ being announced?

Re: Update 43871
i think the deadline neared and they werent finished with all the stuff they wanted to do and continued working on it. I mean that s the story for the whole game so i dont see why thats a bad thing per se. Questionable balance stuff sucks though, feel like the power creep is just too strong, so i dont really want them to add to many new thingsDNLgibraltar wrote:Mn, sometimes I think the balance team has got some random people who just give suggestions from time to time to the ones who are steady at balance, There are always one or two tweaks that are so fucking random and unnecessay. Official patch notes ALWAYS have a lot of misinformationaaryngend wrote:What now ? 750 or 1000 Influence? Even the patch notes contain a lot of misinformationHadejia Emirate (III, 750i)Costs 1000 Influence

Just to mention a few mistakes in this notes:
The cost of Songhai raider is changed to 500 influences (not mentioned)
Dahomey is nerfed (mentioned in PUP but not in this one)
4 new maps (actually not available in game)
"We will introduce the new Savanna in the following" and then forget it

Hoping for a new civ "The Confederacy" led by President Jefferson Davis. #thesouthwillriseagain

Re: Update 43871
I'm sure this patch doesn't even come close to balancing Africa. Africa is still largely undiscovered (unlike the USA. who we were promised buffs for on this patch 6 weeks ago), and this patch mostly only targeted the most obvious broken shipments and rushes. Even if some units were toned down, it's unlikely that we won't see something similarly broken pop up soon enough.
OP civs take longer to discover than underpowered civs, because you don't need to know every detail about the civ to win with a 5 minute rush. It would be a lot better for them to over-nerf africa than under-nerf at this point, in terms of bringing the game to proper balance in a reasonable amount of time. If Africa is still OP, we have 6 more weeks of pain ahead of us. If africa were underpowered, we could still play 17 other civilizations in peace.
Plus they didn't even try to address livestock maps.
Bad balance patch considering the time-frame imo. The rest of the patch looks good though. also weird puma buff.

Things scream.

i believe ethiopia gets an upgrade in the dock that makes their fishing boats basically turn into canoes, if they dont start with an attack already. so that seems pretty bustedcallentournies wrote:I’m just waiting for africa water to be bustyyyy
