Re: Current civ tier list
Seems like the balance is quite good atm
Re: Current civ tier list
Because of my criticism some people asked/dared me to post my current tierlist, so here we go
A tier is for those civs which I consider more competitive atm, being overall stronger in the majority of cases.
China/Brits are just solid picks with high winrate, African civs are strong 1v1 civs (atleast on land that is) with Ethiopia having one of the strongest copycat strats, Inca and India imo are stronger than average civs meaning they have more potential (I might be overrating Inca after the -100f nerf tho). A tier civs have in common being strong on most stages of the game (especially lategame) while still being able to deal with tempo strats. They have better eco/unit options than average. Basically they're civs that don't mind for the game to just reach lategame while also not being totally at the mercy of the opponent initiative. This is also why USA falls in this category.
B tier civs are good to average civs whose competitiveness relies on tempo for a good part. All semi FF civs fall in this category. Of course some might be slightly better overall, or simply have more tempo or more eco potential, but balance is close enough atm to put them in the same category. Japan is the outlier, not being a semi FF civ but being still fairly strong one. No A tier but not C tier either, so B tier. Mexico is a bit of an unknown to me. They have some strong aspects but also they seem fairly unflexible (e.g. when going for full hacienda boom).
C tier civs are civs with traditionally evident weaknesses. They're still playable and if they get the right conditions they can be actually strong but overall they're less competitive than other civs.

I'd say aztec and lakota are probably closer to B tier.

Re: Current civ tier list
it's because of the people who can't play against the dutch and who lose against full ruyter that the dutch sucks balls now

Re: Current civ tier list
Basically no semi FF or traditional skirm/goons civs in A tier. The semi-FF lobby really needs to up its game.
ESOC : came for the game, stayed for the drama.

Re: Current civ tier list
@Garja tier lists should use all tiers. it's a histogram. there is always going to be an S tier civ, even if the difference between S tier and A tier is very small. similarly there is always going to be a D tier civ. not putting civs in S or D tier is misusing the tier list format imo
Re: Current civ tier list
Not necessarily, it partially shows that the variance is rather small. There is neither an overpowered civ nor an underpowered one. They are balanced in a way they are clustered in the middle. Although the histogram has 5 bins, their size may not reflect the actual distribution.Squamiger wrote: ↑13 Mar 2022, 08:14@Garja tier lists should use all tiers. it's a histogram. there is always going to be an S tier civ, even if the difference between S tier and A tier is very small. similarly there is always going to be a D tier civ. not putting civs in S or D tier is misusing the tier list format imo

Re: Current civ tier list
haud as s tier?
Re:
Is it team or 1v1? If it is 1v1 from what I know Russia vs azzy is a difficult match for Russia, same thing against otto but the latter already works better, I see Russia's position much discussed, if I'm wrong tell me. Iroquois in S?
Re: Current civ tier list
What did they change to brit since EP ? (sorry I'm a bit lazy to read the dozens of patch note). Like why are they considered super strong now ?
