Most have just been dipping in their D for a while and then lost interest
Re: why some?
Because they prefer to spend their time on other things. There can be many reasons for this obviouslylook wrote:I was wondering, why do some people(players) go away forever? what do u guys think?
Re: why some?
I think they are traitors and I should take credit for their achievements in the history books.

At some point one might lose interest in some subject or activity. After you've spent a lot of time doing something, it might become repetitive and boring to you.

Re: why some?
Once they changed "colonial age" to "commerce age" that was it, people couldn't believe it, game basically became unplayable at that point.
Re: why some?
I didn't even pay attention to this change, that's why I'm here then

Like 60% of the people who say they leave for good, don't leave for good and are playing the game again in a couple of months.

Cause some people are able to get rid of their addictions by replacing them with new ones.

Re: why some?
Most people just leave without a dramatic announcement. The announcements usually feels like its either a call for attention, or a person blaming life troubles on the fact that they have a hobby they enjoy.MCJim wrote:Like 60% of the people who say they leave for good, don't leave for good and are playing the game again in a couple of months.
Re: why some?
They are often calls for attention, but it does make some sense to announce your departure from a community if you're very involved in it. It can be simply a courtesy to other players/viewers, to get ahead of the question "where is player X?"

Re: why some?
That's true in some cases but GS is also right. If you're known enough in the community it almost feels like you "must" tell people you're going to stop playing. If you just disappear people will wonder why. And after all, if you spent lots of hours on the game and forums, why not spend another 10 mins to simply say you're gonna quit.RefluxSemantic wrote:Most people just leave without a dramatic announcement. Re: why some?
Basically some of us should be assumed dead or banned if we don’t post on ESOC.
Now I used to think the former was the more likely in my case but events as of late suggest otherwise

If I were a petal
And plucked, or moth, plucked
From flowers or pollen froth
To wither on a young child’s
Display. Fetch
Me a ribbon, they, all dead
Things scream.

Re: why some?
I like how the game is pronounced dead in 2009 there already, and here we are 12 years later people still regularly declaring this game dead. Some things do indeed never changeaaryngend wrote:Did some digging:GreatUnKnown wrote:I dont know if that was me reopening the thread.
