Wait, if roger rangers is now age2, that means brits can have a ridiculous diverse army comp at early stages of the game, musk+huss+8skirms and skirm shipments to reinforce.
I mean, they could revamp more than just one civ in a patch, or at least not the one that's good at everything and has 15+ years of stability.

excited to see what it will be although i am a little disappointed we didn't get a hint.
that said everyone would immediately assume it to be Italy regardless of everything else but still.

Re: AOE3 - Update 13.690 [New Civ Confirmed]
Their choices for new civs were quite underwhelming with the US and Mexico, so I guess it will be Brazil.
Whatever is written above: this is no financial advice.

India entered the chat.
I do agree with that. 100%. Considering how much they revise one civilization once a month, there's plenty of room to balance a couple of them once in a while.
Re: AOE3 - Update 13.690 [New Civ Confirmed]
Looks like the -100f for Brits and the +100f for Sweden aren't actually in the released build. Between that and the livestock rates, maybe a hotfix coming in a few days?
I don't think the new Roger's Rangers are that impactful. An age 2 shipment plus 800f to get 5 skirms? I think this is only worth it if you've trained at least 20 longbows prior to researching it. Can be done, sure, but it calls for a specific strategy rather than just fitting into a normal build. On the other hand, between this and the new GMT card, maybe there is an FF with Black Watch and RR as a new strategy to explore, that could be interesting.
Personally I'd rather see a non-Euro civ but Italians does seem to be the fan favorite. Persia, Burma, Siam, Malaya, Zulu, and maybe Brazil (along the lines of Mexico) all seem like viable options that fit the time period and don't have much overlap with what's already there. If it had to be a Euro civ then Poland-Lithuania and Austria (since the German civ is more based on Prussia) could be candidates as well.

In a tight game vs any civ that doesn't has light infantry with +16 range aside from crossbows(speaking of long age2 games), I bet the skirms are going to take a huge part in winning vs all the vanilla civs except dutch.Thrar wrote: ↑16 Mar 2022, 01:04I don't think the new Roger's Rangers are that impactful. Another other civ? meh
Re: AOE3 - Update 13.690 [New Civ Confirmed]
With yomen card giving +0.25 vs HI and with the range siege, Rangers are actually redundant.
Re: AOE3 - Update 13.690 [New Civ Confirmed]
Rangers seems pretty not great except maybe in age 2 musk wars
Re: AOE3 - Update 13.690 [New Civ Confirmed]
they only have 95 hp and 30rr in age 2, they're actually nothing special since you can't remass them. as much as i dont think brits needed them, the unit shows a great deal of restraint and requires about 3 cards to actually be exceptionally viable. I wouldn't worry too much about them. Its the Greenwich card I am afraid of

How does GMT work? Is it only the #TPs you have at the moment you click the technology research? What if you build another TP while aging? Do you lose all benefit if youve lots all your TPS?

Imagine a pikeman running a 90 metre race. The pikeman is kind of demotivated and slow so only runs 1m/s. However, for every allied TP it sees around it, it is energized, reminded of war stories narrated by its predecessors when it was just a little piki, about the great one-sided battles they fought to defend TPs from cassador attacks. So it moves 20% faster, stacking for every TP currently standing on the map. So 1->1.2->1.44 m/s, etc.callentournies wrote: ↑16 Mar 2022, 05:37How does GMT work? Generalized formula for the percentage decrease if the TPs are built from the very beginning is 100%-1/(1-1.2^n). So 2 tps results in a 30.56% reduction in ageup time, and 5 tps results in a 59.8% reduction in ageup time.
oranges.
Re: AOE3 - Update 13.690 [New Civ Confirmed]
I tested this and it appears to be close to accurate. The age up progress bar goes a bit in bursts maybe due to however this is implemented. In practice I got 38 seconds to age II with 5 TP built on Central Plain, pretty close to the expected 36 seconds.
I also tried finishing all 5 TPs shortly after clicking up (within 15 seconds) and they did affect the ongoing age up, resulting in about 49 seconds total in this particular example.
Lastly I tried building all 5 TPs first but shipping the card so it would arrive 20 seconds after clicking up (i.e. with 70 seconds to go) and the result was about 48 seconds of age up time, which is what you'd expect from 20 + 70 * 0.4.
In conclusion, it seems to work in any order, but the TPs seem to contribute their effect at discrete points in time, leading to a slightly uneven age up progress.
