Why do most players prefer the minimap on the lower left instead of right?

Can someone explain the benefits of doing that if there are any?

Everything you need to judge your eco production is in bottom left and reads left to right

Well that does not say much. I don't think anyone has tested both, because it basically doesn't change anything. It's obviously not "better" but as mentioned by others it's just what people are used to from the old game and why change for no reason?

Well anyone who has played aoe 2 has tested both. Imao it's just something you get used to. Starcraft and legacy AoE3 put a minimap on the right corner. It explains everything.

Imagine if they swapped the left mouse button and right mouse button on windows. People would lose their fucking minds. And it really doesn't make any difference at all, but it's just what people are used to. For veteran RTS players, the same applies to the minimap location.

i don't notice any negatives anymore, i regularly swap between steam game (minimap on left) and xbox live game (minimap on right) - most importantly for me is keeping the res and home city mini deck small out of the way on the right.

If you're coming from C&C3 or AoEO it's "supposed to be" on the top right corner 
Makes no difference, just what you're most familiar with. Am used to it being anywhere other than top left corner by now personally. Did struggle for like 2-3 games when originally moving from a game with it in one spot to another.
