Haha, legacy tourney still being the most popular option just shows how much of a failure most of these new civs are... Even 2 years after release

Well it also shows players' nostalgia and a certain bias for many players that couldn't keep up with the new civs.
What about a new civ only tourney? :D

it's selection bias, and a self-reinforcing internet bubble

I see that the community is divided into civ de and civ legacy. I would say doing a player civ legacy vs player civ de tournament.
Starsky: Think, always think what you can improve... There is sooo much room for improvement, which most guys simply dont see, because they just use very strong bos and units combos (wws only --> easy and toooo strong). (2006)

The bias is in the poll. You don't like the new civs you vote for legacy tourney. Why you don't like new civs, that's up for debate and certainly the fact that lot of things are bad is part of it.

I'm just saying that this poll tending toward legacy doesn't mean that the new civs are necessarily failures, just that the people who use this site and answer polls like this tend to be the old legacy anti-DE crowd. thats the sampling bias

Even legacy civs is stupid now beause they deleted a legacy civ (otto) and make it into a "new" civ (otto). While keeping the broken aspects of old otto it sounds like

so dumb

I just hope DE is not going to implement all of the EP changes. Right now it is a big clusterfuck.

Possibly this could be addressed with a mod that reverts some of the legacy civs to earlier versions. An Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition Ensemble Studios Online Community Patch, or "EP" for short.

I did offer to do this earlier in the thread, but there's no point me spending time creating a mod if it won't be used.

If tournaments hosted by former esoc players were hosted on a mod with ep9 balanced with only legacy civilization it would make sense but no one seems to want that (I do).

Idea for new Tournament: Speed unpausing! one player tries to pause the game, and the other tries to unpause as quickly as possible! also double unpausing points for doing the Japanese shrines turn into samurai revolt!
