I was a young elementary schooler (3rd grade). Wasn't until ~1.5 years later that I got my PC with the aoe1 demo on it. Found it by searching the Windows 98 CD and thought it was a history quiz or encyclopedia, surprised that it was an actual video game !

Took me a minute to figure out the difference between left- and rightclick.

Ha! I guess most people who got into it stumbled upon aoe a bit later, few got it right away.
You could say my first endeavour into the Age of Empires realms were in early 1999. Wasn't until a year later when my uncle saw me playing the demo and gave me the full game that he had in his shelve.

In the early 2000's I played aoe2, aoe3 not until mid-2008 until 2010.

Then again with DE, though been quite inactive. Time to change that

I was in 9th grade when I saw a friend play the original AoE and nagged my parents to let me buy it and play it on their computer.
A year later I got AoE2 for Christmas and still remember sitting in my parents' basement (where the computer was) playing Joan of Arc, with my grandfather looking over my shoulder commenting on what was going on.
