Swedes "tutorial"
The double rax carolean build with artillery is probably stronger than the mercenary build but going mercenaries is fun

It's a difficult question and atm I don't think it is good.Cometk wrote:would you advise getting a tradepost at some point as swedes?
If you take a TP in age 1 you age one vill later (which is just bad honestly) and later on you have to skip almost 2 torps to get a TP.
Considering a torp is worth 2 vills that doesn't sound good.
I guess it will get figured out with time but Japan and Brit don't take TPs so why would you when torps are better than shrines and manors?

The devs have clearly been a fan of somali tactics when studying how to make the game

Do swedes not get a market?[Armag] diarouga wrote:It's a difficult question and atm I don't think it is good.Cometk wrote:would you advise getting a tradepost at some point as swedes?

You had 600 gold and about 10 gold per second of income when 700c arrived, meaning you had about 400-500 more than you needed to age. You could've sold that for the TP if you'd invested in a market earlier, which also would've brought you upgrades. Seems like a good option especially since you had to wait for a shipment when you reached fort, which felt awkward.

Re: Swedes "tutorial"
1. A market costs 100w (almost a torp) and with 15 vills on wood it is 1.5v meanwhile a torp is 2v so the torp is better imo. Besides, I'm never really going to need a lot of vills on one resource since torps give me food and coin. Even hunting dog isn't really worth it tbh.Goodspeed wrote:Do swedes not get a market?[Armag] diarouga wrote:It's a difficult question and atm I don't think it is good.Cometk wrote:would you advise getting a tradepost at some point as swedes?

2. When going for the merc build I need that extra gold.
If I go for a 5 carolean semi, then I can just send 700w or even skip the shipment and age one vill later.
3. I needed 50 exp for my shipment in age 3. That's 5 wolves. In what world am I not going to kill 5 wolves in age 1?

Re: Swedes "tutorial"
Fair. It depends on how all in your build is I guess. If it's some timing then market ups are unimportant. Also depends on how likely early pressure is. Market might be good just for great coat and for buying wood in case you're stuck in TC for a while and lost buildings, or food to age.[Armag] diarouga wrote:1. In case of merc strat maybe more shipments isn't important, but otherwise the TP seems like a no-brainer in any FF build. Could simply build it in transition to colonial; Arguably it's worth more than 3.5 vills.

maybe some basic herding tutorial from our hero may help

After all, Dutch and Jap don't take a TP when semi ffing.

Re: Swedes "tutorial"
Torps also give a lot of XP when built, 24 iirc, so your xp income as sweden is actually pretty decent without a tp.

Re: Swedes "tutorial"
Yeah this works a lot like the old Japan did. OP passive eco from houses plus fast op muskets. Thanks for making a cool tutorial video so early on!

People were fearful of 2 uhlan raids, what will they do vs 2 caroleon raids
Re: Swedes "tutorial"
Torps should only be able to gather one resource, like shrines. Maybe give them the option to gather either coin, or hunt, or the berry bushes that they come with, changeable with a button in the same way that shrines work but individually. Would also give some macro to Swedes because as it stands, its the easiest Civ except for Ottomans maybe

Knush makes fun of me because I can't herd but it's really hard.
In a real game you need to build your torps near your mines while herding toward that mine and killing animals without backherding while scouting and microing. Try it, it's not as easy as you think.
