Ive been doing this build for some time now and its absolutely nuts. The only thing i do different is trying to go 1k wood on the way to 4 instead of 2 falc if im not pressured and i dont have a stagecoach for wood. Its lets u get a 2nd rax and maybe a foundry (gotta use that spanish Gold somehow) or even an Arsenal for inf breastplate.

Its something like 1, 5 shipments after min 14 with 1tp, so its fine.

Yeah after like multiple shipments in age 4 you will be floating 1000g ,you can either use this to revolt or send merc shipment.

Mercant give 3 shipement if tech arround 13 min, it's just insane if you fi ^^. Spain can hit a 200 pop timing super early.

my pure skirm cannon combination was suprised to see this. dutch seem to do all right vs this FI strat, problem is that spain can just to normal age 3 stuff or piro FF and reck dutch either way

Wait ive just noticed hand infantry combat => archaic infantry combat, that alone is absolutely huge.

Following on from soldiers stream civs which struggle to field cannons will get shredded by this

It's kinda ridiculous there's multiple cards with ~2000 value in units but age 4 crates are only 1600.

It's funny, I've been testing for several weeks now a similar build order. I was looking for the fastest way to up age 4 and the best way I found is to send the farm+7 sheeps shipment age1. With spain, by build a TP age 1 you can clearly send a second shipment and still have one when you age up (I up 12/10 settlers like Piro's FF). The sheeps is a very good investment for FI because it's guarantees you to have enough food for age 4. My shipments was :

3v | farms+7sheeps | 700 gold | 700 wood | 600 gold | Spanish gold | 24 crossbowmen/2 heavy canons

I have so much food with sheeps that I thought to send 600 gold instead of send 5v. You have a very bad eco but you age up age 4 very soon since you juste to collect 200 gold for age up.

I don't know if it's viable at high level though, but it can work at mine

yeah its really good if sent relatively early like <12 mins as it will give you multiple shipments in age 4 so you can send cards back to back. It will delay your timings but it will prolong your offensive as well giving you more momentum as the game goes on.

I rarely find the merchant tech to be useful just because of how many shipments Spain naturally gets anyway, especially when making units non stop.
I don't like Elmeti either because Spain has 8|7|6 lancer shipments in industrial so I might send those, plus infantry isn't a problem even jsut for xbows or artillery. The most problematic unit is good cav with skirms behind mostly because pikes are strong but get outplayed. In that case you may want lancers just to give your combo more playability (body block other cav or threat infantry and force anticav on them). With all ups I'm pretty sure I don't need cav even vs that, but then again lancers with all ups are a sick unit too.

The gold crates can be used for a lot of other things. 2nd and 3rd wood ups, factory upgrades, infantry train tech fro

Nah, guard lancer is something u dont want at this point with guard bow/pike and heavies. Guard goons is something u would want in your combo.

The thing is instead of upping lancers for 2k res is just not what u want at the point where u got heavies and guard bow/pike and thats why you make goons and up them (if u got the wood for it) rods are another unit which are great in this combo but since u have pikes, goons seem much better.
