Units with fast ROF shooting blank
While doing some testing on unit strenght I was thinking about this: units with fast ROF and setup animation such as lbows or arrow knights pretty much always shoot blank on the 2nd volley if not retasked. That's because they target the already dead unit. As things are now a ROF of 2 instead of 1.5 would be better in practice and that's a bit of a paradox.
Would it be possible to speed up the threshold on the "dead state" so that the AI recognize a certain unit is already dead and these high ROF units move to the next target automatically?

*Longbows should have a "barrage" stance where they just shoot volley at a point on the map and hit any unit that pass through.

Arguable. It would make them perform the way they are intended to. If too good just lower the base damage. Blank shots is exactly why sometimes they seem good and sometimes bad. It just depends on how lucky their shots desync.

we could just have a 2 rof for lbs . maybe a different one for grens as well since they have a similar problem

So that's why I always found longbows great on paper but incredibly shitty when used.

I always felt that lbs are usually good at killing high hp or like very resistant targets like cav and art but shit against infantry and this sort of explains why cause high hp target will absorb a lot of volleys and have less animation cancel.duckzilla wrote:So that's why I always found longbows great on paper but incredibly shitty when used.

Yeah Longbows should definitely have a shorter firing animation but lower damage. Of course keep the animation long enough so that they still can't kite.

Obviously, thats why pikemen are the best tank units. On a side note, I did a game with a noob friend and he was only making spanish pikemen the whole game and it sort of worked out vs the average players we faced. New meta?

2 ROF is proper for archers. Give them a shorter (but not as fast as gunpowder units) animation time.
