The way I use the granary is by putting right under the TC, and herding towards there normally, and I think the granary do avoid a hassle by gluing the hunts under TC, and not make me have to shoot them back all the time.

But I will admit that I never really thought about using a lot of vills per animal to avoid decay. I always used smalls groups of 3/4 vills on each animal to avoid the vills bumping on each other. So I don't know if this is a disadvantage for the African civs.

I will test out and see what is the most optimal way to use the hunts. Ain't getting a woman any sooner, so might as well embrace and dive deep into the virginity.

Ideally the granary should be smaller (same size as a house), not attract animals, build faster, have less hp and zero LOS. Possibly prevent decay of dead animals within its range.
Alternatively it should only attract a max number of animals just like shrines. That way the hunt can always be shoot back but not all animals are tied to the granary screwing villager pathing.

i agree about the granary. the slow build time is killer, combined with how slow the first cow is to gather 100f to make the first vill, it really contributes to slowing down these civs in age 1

Lifidi are your tank unit. Akan does lot of damage vs group unit. Sure they expensive but u gonna trade pretty well against almost everything.
Fulani bow suck really badly.

Fulani with 25 range is great though.(and u need 1 card and 1000 influence for that) They do well against heavy infantry and light cavalery but they really bad against other unit including skirm.
Hausa best unit is lifidi knight = a 2 pop gendarm

Fulani are great even with only 20 range. Actually better that way because iirc the 25 range comes with a setup animation.
Anyway the unit has insane dps and shoots instantly. Combined with the 1.5 rof it is super microable. Also it only has 20% armor but slightly more hitpoints than a skirmisher, so in the end works better vs most type of units while still beating most skirms because of the high dps.
Lifidi are a great unit too, they have great HP and armor but lack DPS.
Regardless of stats, what matter is that you can make almost only fulani and win vs almost everything, while with full Lifidi you lose vs many combos.

By the way, African civs could start with 100 units of influence in the inventory just like Asian civs start with 100 exports.

I don't agree that Fulani is a good archery unit. 9 attack 1.5 ROF isn't equal to 18 attack 3 ROF, as you can't kite easily. Fulani cost 105 resource, but has only about the same DPS with Aztec slinger; and they perform worse against heavy infantry. Colonial 7 Fulani shipment is 735 resource, but they can't even one shot a Russian musketeer. Combine with their slow age up, it's extremely hard for Hausa to hold a simple musket rush: you have to age up with influence, send 12 dervish first, or the game is just over.

With 2 upgrades they become cost-effective indeed, but is it available to send 2 upgrade shipments in a close game? Considering that African economy is so dumb, in most cases you can't afford that.

They are much easier to kite with compared to most other archer unit, with I think only Yumi and iron troop being the same in terms of responsiveness, so I think their micro potential is much higher.

Their speed also helps, especially when combined with Griot support, which makes them faster then all other infantry i think and also lowers DPS of the opposing formation.

You do have to kite like a madman with them, almost like SC2 marines but they can be deadly

It's just not a worthy deal. You spend 105 resource, 1-2 upgrade shipments, and mad micro, just to make them a bit better than other archers (still not as good as skirmishers against musks).

yeah their weakness is musks though tbh i feel without that they would be OP.

A fulani-javelin mass with griot feels like a skirm goon on steroid

They do have skrim access through Morroco and CIR through the brit but that is a lategame option and the skirm is really food heavy.

Suddenly they have 18 attack which is great, and in fact it's better than 18 attack because you have much less overkill when dealing 9 attack twice than 18 once.

They insta shoot so they never waste shots like all other units (except slingers) do. They also combine 20 range, and 4.5 speed. They definetely dont lose to ashi, probably they do vs yumi but most units lose to full yumi.
7 fulani kill a russian musk in 2 shots with 1.5 rof, what is even your point?
Slingers are also a great unit, they beat most stuff per cost with the attack dance and have 30% rr. Fulani outranges them in midgame tho (more than other skirms do).

Another overlooked aspect of Fulani Archers is that they can gather from livestock at the same rate as a villager by default. This gives you an extra eco boost option if you need it.
