Where to save typetest.xml file?

Post by killer_luck »

Hi I was following the direction here: http://aoe3.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/for ... ,37007,,10 to try and bring in this FWG custom map into Definitive Edition (viewtopic.php?f=33&t=15791), but I have tried saving it under Trigger folder for AOE 3 DE and it doesn't work. Does anyone know which folder to save typetest.xml files under for DE, or if it is even possible still?

When you launch the game click on "Load" > "Custom Scenario" > "Open Saved Games". Copy the scenario file into the folder and you should be good to go.

Yes so I was able to get the scenario loaded in that folder, but it requires custom triggers defined in the typetest.xml file. I tried saving that file under Trigger folder after reading this old post: http://aoe3.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/for ... ,37007,,10 but it doesn't seem to work and I cant find a typetest.xml file for DE anywhere

To just play the scenario, assuming the scenario file works in DE, you shouldn't need the custom trigger file, as long as DE works the same as legacy. The scenario bundles the trigger definitions into the file.

However, If you want to edit the triggers in the scenario you will need it.

It looks like the typetest is now in the Data.bar archive (called "Data\trigger\triggerData.xml"). Try creating a "trigger" folder under "Data" in the game files and dropping it in there.

If that doesn't work, you may need to modify the bar.

Is there an updated bar editor for DE? I know the existing ones aren't compatible.

I also just published updates to my bar/xmb scripts to support extracting DE files:

https://gitlab.com/adamjseitz/aoe3-mod-tools

I still need to make creating files in the DE format though

Has anyone been able to get custom triggers to work? I've extracted the triggerdata.xml.xmb into an xml file, added a few effects into the file for testing, reconverted it to XMB, and none of the triggers I added are showing. Not sure what I would be doing wrong here.
