Tournament statistics

I realise a lot of this was covered not too long ago on Economist's thread but as I'd already started this I thought I'd share anyway.

I've populated all the games from the pro division so far in a DB table and allowed you to filter based on group stage, quarterfinals etc and it will also allow you to filter on tournament in the future as more events take place.

Any chance you could split picks into first pick, counter pick and game 1 pick? I think this is an important metric that is usually not considered

I don't really know where I'd get that data other than to sift through old streams. If you have a better idea on how to get it I'd happily add it as an option.

Updated to include games up to the RO8, made columns sortable and created an option to download the full data set.

During some tournament data collection, I did run over streams to confirm pick order and age up times.

Those tables I shared above are from legacy tournaments. You could possibly incorporate them into your app, if you were interested. Since the job is done, it might be interesting to have the several versions in conjunction.

Ok cool, I will add your historical data in when I get a little bit of time and potentially add a couple of optional fields to record the contextual information we have about the pick

french winning % lol

this civ is probably weaker than average due to being harder to play than other civs.

I'd say on the contrary that french is kind of easy to perform on the lower levels, then it becomes very hard to master. I haven't ever mastered the civ after thousands of games with them.

Japan only on 35% win if you look at ro16 onwards, Sweden obviously good, but maybe not as good as people act like they are, hood looking looking like the best or 2nd best civ across all maps(based purely on stats).

Well the main reason why iro is a very good civ is because they're one of the very few civs able to fight the port water / spain logistician abuse. Of course it's a strong civ but if they were only just going water themselves / playing land, they definitely wouldn't be as great.
Japan is often picked vs sweden (I think?) so maybe that's why they have such a low winrate, idk I didn't watch most games.

Also yeah france is actually rather hard to play at high level, mainly because of the variety of builds and unit compositions they have, it's just easy to bot a build or two at lower level.

I think France is difficult because you have to play very precisely and aggressively. They are very flexible and solid overall, but if you want to win consistently you have to squeeze out value from the small advantages you get with your better eco and native scout in the early game.

i really, really, really wish the devs would give us some statistics on win rates for civs at different ELO brackets. I bet France's distribution would be a high win rate at 500-1200 ELO, a low win rate at 1200-1800 ELO, and then an increase again at the 1800+ levels
