aoe3 not starting

so i tired to start aoe 3 and i can see it in the task manager but it never loads up. I think my pc should handle it. fx8350 gtx 770 8 ram ? anything im missing ?

Try launching AoE3DE_s.exe directly, then you might get some visible error message.

I think the game isn't starting because of the low amount of VRAM you probably have. GTX 770 users mostly have 1 GB, some versions have 2GB of VRAM.
Maybe try to fiddle with the settings and try to set everything to low concerning VRAM (Shaders, etc.) before the game even starts.

GTX770 is a 2GB card. I had same problem on W7 with a GTX970.

I just checked it, 2GB is standard and some have 4GB. Still, 4GB VRAM is recommended for aoe3:DE, 2GB are minimum.

well.apparently it does start it just take ages. like 15 min and then i cant play. Seems like my pc just cant handle it. RIP time to demand refund.

I had this issue with a few games.

I often did this trick which worked for me.

1. Double click the exe file (from directory)
2. Nothing happens. You double click again.
3. Nothing happens. Press alt ctrl delete at once. Get task manager. Go to processes and end all the processes that has 'age3' in it.
4. Now double click the exe file (from directory. Then it launches.

Though this is crazy way to address the actual issue, I'm just hoping this lame process works for you.

alright i updated my ram to 16 gb and it definetly helped. I can now play singeplayer and it starts up a bit faster. IN multiplayer loading time and shit is still horrible. Textures dont load and it justs spikes a lot. I looked on my cpu and gpu usage but its barely used. I have like 20 % cpu usage and 30 % gpu. But the game is still slow, how can this be possible. like in theory i should be able to run the game on max settings with relative ease, yet my pc struggles with lowest settings.

alright i updated my ram to 16 gb and it definetly helped. I can now play singeplayer and it starts up a bit faster. IN multiplayer loading time and shit is still horrible. Perhaps check if the CPU is at 100% on one core and 5% on others. It's AOE3 after all. Then check if the drive where game is loaded isn't at 100% constantly.

cpu is fine, spread amongst all cores pretty equally. maybe its just my drive, especially those lag spikes and not fully loaded textures might indicate a slow drive right ? i only have a hdd
