I noticed a lot of hand infantry has a bonus vs light infantry, so does that mean if they get in hand with skirts they do bonus, or only vs units like disciples and coyote runners?

Yes, musketeers, halberdiers and pikemen do bonus damage to skirms in a melee fight. Fake news, sorry

I would say that I'm pretty sure they don't, but now I am unsure. Good question. BRB scientific research.

Edit: They do not have a bonus in melee. However, musketeers-type units (especially sepoys) in melee still beat skirmishers.
Pay more attention to detail.

Also, ranged cavalry has bonus only vs the following light infantry units:

  • Coyote Runner
  • Disciples

Tiger claws are the only light infantry units that are weak to cannons cuz claws are also tagged as "normal" infantry units. All the other light infantry units are not weak to cannons.

The bonus Tiger Claws have (x2) is vs "normal" infantry units (skirms, xbows, musks), not vs light infantry. Same with lancers, they do not do any extra damage vs light infantry (except tiger claws).

For The War Chiefs expansion, what you would typically think of as light infantry was re-tagged as ranged infantry. Since they don't really fit in any other category per se, all of the weird cavalry-equivalent infantry introduced in TWC and TAD (coyotes, rattan shields, tiger claws, etc.) were tagged as light infantry.

Thus musketeers and other heavy infantry units were given their multiplier against "light infantry" so that they could counter these units as they would their equivalent cavalry units.

Not strictly on topic but why does the dutch card "Military Reforms" reduce halb bonus damage against light infantry? After all light infantry is just cav without the cav tag, isn't it?

Skirms and archers are light inf in vanilla and inf in TAD whereas coyotes (and eagle things ?) are light inf in TAD.

They probably just ported it from vanilla, breaking the shipment.

Military Reforms reduces halb bonus damage against "normal" infantry (skirm-type infantry and heavy infantry). It doesn't reduce their bonus against light infantry.

You're quoting from a paragraph that's only TWC (so no Disciples), otherwise correct. Also, eagles were exclusively countered by Skirmishers (both gunpowder and archer. Light Infantry as a whole is countered by Heavy Infantry though, so that stays. :)
