Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
Its the standard ekanta UI with some production queues moved and all the extra information (like market trade buttons, idle military, info about factory wagons) removed.
I wish this became the norm on EP. The old UI is straight up ugly as fuck.

I think kynesie uses one a modded himself. Might be related to Qazitory's UI.TheNameDaniel wrote:is the ekanta UI the one that kynesie uses?

Incorrect. Although this is an ongoing discussion. Unfortunately EP policy and EP development moves slowly.Ashvin wrote:that is correct, all 3rd party ui are banned from EP

I've been using the Ekanta UI for ~10 years, so going back to the original is extremely painful and means I'm just opting to play more on RE than EP....Mr_Bramboy wrote:Incorrect. Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
Why are UIs banned?
Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
cause everyone can made their own custom UI and it can confere advantages, some are already very bordeline ( for exemple qazitoy has market trade buttons which save you some apm).
And in the end like you cant control every players UI meanwhile you have to put a limit somewhere the simplest and safe action to take is just to forbid them i guess.

Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
Sophisticated modded UIs are pretty close to cheating. They shouldn't be allowed in tournaments at least. Banning from EP altogether, idk. Tough one
Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
Problem is if it isn't banned on EP how do you police it in tournament?Goodspeed wrote:Sophisticated modded UIs are pretty close to cheating. They shouldn't be allowed in tournaments at least. Banning from EP altogether, idk. Tough one

Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
I guess you could make a branch of EP used only for tournaments, but meh.

Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
I guess EP could and/or already blocks files which changes UI in major ways ex. addition of few things which otherwise would need more clicks. But I think asthetic/re-skins/repositioning of UI elements as long as they have equal or less functions to current UI shouldn't be banned. To give an example say certain UI shows resources at top like aoe 2, they shouldn't be banned imo, even in tournaments.Goodspeed wrote:Sophisticated modded UIs are pretty close to cheating. Fine line to something great is a strange change.
Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
Ekanta for example expands your field of vision. That would count, to me, as having "more functions" as the standard UI.

Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
The question isn't whether or not modded UIs are a form of cheating - that is a fact. The question is which interest we value more: that of tournament integrity, or that of EP interests. Blocking popular modded UIs would add yet another hurdle to switching from RE to EP. At the same time, the merits are relatively small. In other words, the negatives outweigh the positives.
Then there's the problem of limited developer resources. The live streams sidebar wasn't broken for two weeks because our developers are lazy, but because our developers are limited in number and busy with their own lives. A 'tournament patch' therefore seems unfeasible.

Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
I prefer Ekanta for (1) the idle vill timeline at the top of the UI and (2) more unit details in a minimised view (eg: unit speed without needing max ui).Goodspeed wrote:Ekanta for example expands your field of vision. That would count, to me, as having "more functions" as the standard UI.
So what do we need to do to get this approved? Who is the decision maker and who can do the coding? The question isn't whether or not modded UIs are a form of cheating - that is a fact. Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
I agree with you on this, however I was making a more generalized statement, not on any specific UI, if Ekanta provides the advantage it should be reworked @Goodspeed
@Mr_Bramboy Blatantly saying any custom UI is cheating is bit unfair though

Re: Eaglemut - Ekanta UI Launch Error with ESO-C Patch
Can't we just enable Ekanta - Eaglemut UI until the next major tournament then?Mr_Bramboy wrote:The question isn't whether or not modded UIs are a form of cheating - that is a fact.
