Not sure what you mean by this. Non-DE content was moved to be behind an extra click. I'm honestly not sure what you mean by the "ESO Brand", in fact. The "ESOC" brand?Dolan wrote:So the ESO brand is pretty much gone.
We're hoping to implement some kind of DE ladder when an API becomes available from Microsoft, which is apparently in the works.
Re: Site Feature Changelog
I meant, I checked the agecomm site and I noticed that Microsoft suspended the eso.com domain in 2018, which means that they do not support that defunct brand anymore. If anyone can buy that domain (and someone did buy it, it's some healthcare services company from the US https://www.eso.com/) then Microsoft is not legally asserting and maintaining that brand anymore. It's gone, since its name refers to a company that Microsoft dissolved in 2009.musketeer925 wrote:Not sure what you mean by this. Non-DE content was moved to be behind an extra click. The only thing that kept that name still in use was the matchmaking system for AOE3, the ESO servers. Once DE becomes the main matchmaking system for AOE3, there will no longer be anything official related to AOE3 still called "ESO" in any way. Maybe that ESO account recovery tool, though not sure if even that one still works.

Re: Site Feature Changelog
Ah, yeah. I think it's a little bit of a stretch to call "ESO" a brand. It was just the name of AoE3's online service.
Re: Site Feature Changelog
Is the new DE multiplayer service still called ESO? From what I've seen on streams, there doesn't seem to be any name for it yet.

Re: Site Feature Changelog
Don't think it has a name, it's just "multiplayer". I think that's how most games are now, it's not 2005 anymore.Dolan wrote:Is the new DE multiplayer service still called ESO? From what I've seen on streams, there doesn't seem to be any name for it yet.
Re: Site Feature Changelog
You know what I mean. In AOE3 classic, when you clicked on multiplayer, you had that button labelled "ES Online". You clicked on it and you got the message "Connecting to ESO", then the ESO login screen.
DE has removed that, so there's no official name for the AOE3 servers anymore. It's just "multiplayer", indeed. The ESO brand is officially retired.

Re: Site Feature Changelog
My understanding is that the multiplayer service/servers for DE is called "Xbox Live".
ESO multiplayer service (including recovery tool and newly updated XML API) will continue running for the old game, but it is a legacy brand/platform that Microsoft isn't interested in expanding on, as you say.

Re: Site Feature Changelog
@EAGLEMUT just noticed that the DE strategy board (at least) isn't showing up in "active topics." Seems like it's unlisted like off-topic.

Can't view Profiles right now. Blank page.

Fixed, thanks for the report.aaryngend wrote:Can't view Profiles right now. Blank page.
On other news, ESOC should be running more smoothly since yesterday. I've implemented a couple optimizations to deal with the recent slowdowns and site even going completely down under load.
Re: Site Feature Changelog
Top live streams panel out of order for like a week, imo one of the more useful features on ESOC. Any chance to get it running again? Maybe with a split function for aoe3 / aoe 4

Re: Site Feature Changelog
As for the above, live streams panel got fixed and improved by @musketeer925
Today, I present you a new AoE4 board style designed by none other than @PF2K
This style is now the default for new/anonymous users. You can adjust your preferred board style in board preferences.
Game-specific forum categories and their subforums will force the appropriate style, to better reflect the type of content displayed.

Re: Site Feature Changelog
Nice, now if only the name eso-community would change too. But I guess that isn't feasible because of search engine algorithms.EAGLEMUT wrote:As for the above, live streams panel got fixed and improved by @musketeer925

You would have to start from scratch

A note for advanced BBCode users:
The old img-format BBCode has been renamed to imgformat due to limitations on the upgraded forum software. Old posts have been migrated accordingly.

Re: Site Feature Changelog
Tiny quality-of-life improvement: the patch version field in recorded game widgets inlined into posts and on the recorded game search page are now links to the patch notes for that version.
Excuse the excessive amount of jpeg in this screenshot, I tried using windows built-in "Steps Recorder" to get a screenshot with my cursor... and apparently it sucks.

Re: Site Feature Changelog
Performed final step of the phpbb 3.2 forum upgrade:
Also, a less recent change but I don't see it mentioned here yet; @musketeer925 implemented our own interface for the DE ladder: https://eso-community.net/ladder/aoe3de
- Introduced new features from phpbb 3.2, such as quote links
- Fixed numerous styling issues
- Fixed automatic hiding of nested quotes
- Fixed oversized emoji bug
- Fixed missing text for mention notifications
- Fixed attachments interface

I was hoping this would be one of those updates where it accidentally unlocks all the old locked threads so I could bump them but I can't. Very sad about this

Re: Site Feature Changelog
The forums still don't allow you to "like" your own posts. This is a serious problem.
Re: Site Feature Changelog
I don't get like notifications in most cases. For example this post from the Malta topic shows 4 likes:
But only the first one from Eaglemut was reported:
It's not important to me, but I thought I'd report it anyway
