I'd take Hispaniola over a lot of other RE maps purely because you never get resource screwed. 90% of RE QS games there is a game deciding hunt/mine screw. Pretty civ dependent ofc though.

Worst map for me is great plains. This map can gtfo with it's hunts.

The good thing about Hispaniola is that you can't get unfair hunts as the map has no hunts whatsoever.

Tbh many RE maps had really interesting layouts and were only bad due to hunt screws. Patagonia, Rockies, or Sonora have really interesting designs and just need (needed ?) hunts...

What was the one in nilla where both players were up on cliffs where there was like zero hunt? And you had to go down to the middle. That one was the absolute worst. Although I fondly remember crossbow rushing and beating h2o on that map.

I always thought Patagonia on RE had worse hunts than bayou/sonora

They are super scarce but at least somewhat consistent, so you know what to expect and the design of the map is really interesting.

Great Lakes summer was always the map that pissed me off the most, even though there are objectively worse maps

fun fact, you'd never know this because the map spawns so poorly, but there are supposed to be 12 mines in a 1v1

also, the summer spawn literally doesn't have a starting hunt coded into it xD

12?! On the summer version, your 2nd mine is usually mid map. And sometimes that is your first because the one in your base didn't even spawn. I mean, where are the 12 supposed to spawn? In the lake?

rockies, sonora and hispaniola are close, but I have to give the prize to great lakes. You either dont have a mine, or a hunt. but if you occasionally spawn with both, then its in a game you decided to click into qs with sioux and you got matched vs ports.
So glad ep team made decent maps, and they adopted then into DE.

On the current map pool, imo hokkaido is the worst

It's also great when you see your opponent's deck and it's full of water cards on GL. Or when he builds a fort and walls around his base. Or when you scout towers and docks on the central island.

Great lakes can sometimes also give you six starting hunts. That map can just straight up be unfair. For other maps at least both players tend to have a shit map.
