WW with artillery tag and double armor

Post by Garja »

It would be cool if war wagons had both ranged cav and artillery tags as well as double armor.
Change my mind.

p.s.
Maybe rename strategy subforum to "strategy and balance"?

I would be happy if War Wagons would fire instantly instead of awkwardly waiting for half a second.

Imagine if Germany had a good range cav unit instead of crappy WW. I'm sure it would be perfectly balanced.

We could also give falcs to Ports, skirms and goons shipments to Spain, skirmishers and fast age 3 to Brits ?

They just don't have the eye or class to notice luxury items.

we could make them like starcraft siege tank, add a siege mode where they have increased range and splash, add in range armour but then it cant move

or we could make WW more interesting given that it's sort of a unique unit and new civs have all sort of shit

Honestly I will prefer to not mess with old civs too much. Maybe a little tweaks here and there, but nothing drastic like this.

If a new civ is made (Like Poland or something) with a fancy unit like that, then it's fine for me. But I wouldn't like to mess around with old civs too much.

I think that War Wagons are bad because they overkill a lot. A lot of the times you just need 3/4 of them to one shot a unit, so if you have a decent mass and you are z moving them, they waste a looooooooooot of kills.

So you have a practical problem, that you pretty much always have to spread fire for them be effective. But realistic, is quite hard to be always spreading fire because you could have a billion other things happening, so you just z move them a go do other stuff and end up wasting a lot of shots.
Or maybe I am just bad, and one of the reasons I am is because I can't spread fire them properly. Which is also possible.

They are also quite slow for a Dragoon unit too.

So anyway. I don't think their armor or tag is the problem, they are quite tanky actually. Their problem is much more their clunkiness.

So the answer is ranged area damage, time to make Akan Ankobias uncool

Thinking of it, 30% RR would be terrible for civs with short range skirms. Other than that I liked the idea  which anyway was to balance out the added artillery tag (which would just be a random cool thing imo).

sorta like when huaraca had both the artillery amd infantry tags so light cannon, flamethrowers, a few others, would absolutely demolish them with 6x, 12x multis?

im telling yah, we could make them like starcraft siege tanks, with an immobile mode that with much more armour and a splash attack. also with better turning speed to fire.

This guy gets it. Giving them a completely immobile mode would also make much more sense with the actual Hussite style of deploying war wagons.

yeah the 6x vs infantry and 2x vs artillery stacked to do 12x. light cannons stacked the 2x vs infantry and 3x vs artillery for a whopping 6x (420 damage per volley at base stats). flaming arrows had the same thing after upgraded to honoured. it was a really really exploitable set of unit tags.

yes deployable war wagons sounds much more realistic :kinggreen:

It's what they call a pro move.
Seriously tho, double the ROF and bypassing ranged resistance is good. Also forcing skirms in melee.
